have finally seen some ads on free to air. for mine, the liberal 'won't be easy under albanese' rings a bit hollow when people are spooked by rates increases under your watch. pointing out morrison's hawaii, rats, vaccines, solomons stuff - this has demonstrably happened, is a known and you have to balance whatever thoughts you might have of him against something you can reasonably expect to happen again.

qualifier - will be voting against scomo in my seat

And????

Haven't had a bushfire or a Hawaii trip in a while
Well the charlatan hasn’t actually done anything for almost 4 years now or told us what these “burning ambitions” actually are.

Other than converting up rape, covering up sexual assault, racking up eye watering debt, and giving money to Angus Taylor we do not know what else Morrison actually does stand for 🤷‍♂️

This idiot just mentioned he has burning ambitions for Australia.
A man devoid of intellectual curiosity. For three years had access to our best and brightest, but developed no policies or legislative solutions for the challenges confronting our nation.

His ambition stops at his re-election, campaigning on our dime and maxing out Travel Allowance.

At least Howard had a legislative agenda.

The media is a problem but it's not like Labor isn't also their own worst enemy here

The media is the problem.
It is unrealistic to expect that ANY political party doesn't have any internal problems or that they don't require a bit of self reflection.
Every tiny thing that is an issue in, or with, Labor is blown massively out of proportion.
Labor have this issue waa-waa-waa-waa-screech-screech-screech-how-can-they-govern.
If Labor was saddled with just a single LNP problem, rorts, they would never get anywhere near the Treasury benches because the media would make sure of it.
A perfect example:
A few days ago there was a "journalist" carrying on like a f'ing idiot because Albo didn't answer his question to his liking.
Journos should be like umpires, if you notice them, something isn't right.
Journalists opinions are f'ing worthless and totally irrelevant, we shouldn't have to listen to journalists opinions.
We've had days of discussion about journalists. They're lapping it up, like the election is about them. F off you grubs. Most of them can't even do the basics of their f'in job.

mate the media is the problem is like saying that Labor are perfect

they aren't

its not every single media outlet going the ALP either

its the majority sure but its not like they never go anyone else and its not like Labor don't do a lot of stupid shit to shoot themselves

its not an either or proposition

the media can be a problem and the ALP could be doing things to deal with it better than they are

I think the video compilation they had on at the start of Insiders spoke volumes. During the compilation, they showed clips of both leaders saying hello to a child. The kid Morrison said hi to ran off, while the kid Albo said hello to just stayed there until his mother came to get him. Like chalk and cheese.

You're a 'genius' if you are getting your opinion of the countries future from 2 random kids.

You are very close to, if not in, Kwality territory.
So much so that I am beginning to wonder if you're actually an LNP supporter.

It is very simple.
If the standard is to hold politicians to account then that standard has to apply to all politicians.
If you don't apply that standard to all politicians, then it isn't a standard.
If there isn't a standard then how can you be holding Labor to account?

A political campaign goes through the filter of media, for better or worse. You can put up posters, and doorknock all you want, but when people talk about your political campaign, they are mostly talking about the soundbites they see on media, and op eds they may read.

The greatest policy speech in the world doesn't help if the media just plays a few seconds out of context, then talks about how it sucked.

Thats what most people will remember, the policy speech (that they heard almost nothing of), and how much it sucked (because the talking heads said it sucked).

You can have 50 great policies, and you can talk in detail about them at every campaign event you appear at, and if the media ignore them, then say how you dont have any policies, then thats what most people will think.

This is very much a small target campaign, and it depends a lot on Morrisons incompetence, but I dont think they have a lot of choice. A well crafted campaign, involving lots of details, plans, commitments etc, is going to go into the media blender, and what will come out is soundbites, gotcha moments, minor gaffs blown up into events of Earth shattering importance.

They are being screwed, and know it, but they have no choice but to grin, bear it ans play nice, because if they try to make too much of it, then THAT will be the story, whining ALP, afraid of media scrutiny, cannot stand the heat, how can they govern if they cannot handle a few questions, what do they have to hide?

ALP campaigns in the past were better, because the media wasn't so one sided.
Question already raised by the media.

How will Albanese stand up to China if he cannot stand up to us.

The implication that it is/was easy under scomo? I don’t think that resonates

The attack on the independents? Arrogantly assumes it’s a protest vote ignoring that people do want them gone or in a minority at least
