I reckon if this was an ALP Govt, I would be able to hear about this in places other than the Guardian and ABC (not leftist news, just actual news which matters to people). Costello will definitely keep this out of SMH/Age and Murdoch's staff probably just couldn't understand it.

Some of that would reflect the loss of manufacturing jobs in Australia, being replaced by hospitality jobs.
Less skills = less money.
Trouble with hospitality, if you pay them all more , then no-one can afford to go out. Which is why the lower end of the hospitality industry is rampant with underpaying and "off the books" employees.

This is completely wrong. Wages make up just a portion of what you pay, but if you increased wages by 10%, the price of a meal might only go up by 5%. BUT, if you pay all these hospo people 10% more, they can afford to eat out more themselves and the number of customers increases.

Underpaying is people running an unviable business trying to make their employees pay for it.

If every hospo job were paid more, then all the viable hospo businesses would become even more viable and the non-viable ones would be less viable.

And you find this strange somehow, I’ve made my BF life up until recently, in being an obscurantist for a few likes and laughs.

My point still stands though, if our military pilots don’t have tech in their visors to deal with such a minor everyday occurrence, what the fu** are they doing running sorties over Chinese naval ships, well known for doing this?
How bizarro indeed?
As I said earlier, you’re projecting, without a hint of technological nouse to modern military hardware and protection, although given our current government and hardware predicaments, it wouldn’t surprise me in the least that our pilots aren’t donning a leather cap and some visors bought at the local hoc-shop.

I'm projecting? Not only is that inaccurate, it's not even relevant.

Lasers and planes don't mix. It's known. You trying to argue, bizarrely, that it's harmless, doesn't change what the actual facts are.

You don't shine lasers at pilots. Quite simple. The rest of what you write is irrelevant to that.

So you didn't believe China's version?

A Chinese state-controlled newspaper has accused Australia of provoking Royal Australian Air Force aircraft of flying to close to Chinese warships after Canberra raised concerns with Beijing about an incident in the Arafura Sea last week.

I believe China's version about as much as I believe ScoMo's version. Both fishing for likes from the public.

I very quickly have my fill of Anzackery. Really don’t need to hear anything about Gallipoli ever again.

But it makes me furious to see these arseholes wrapping themselves in the flag and then showing the utter contempt they have for Australian servicepeople in the very next breath.

The disappointing wage growth figures for December quarter, with wage growth correlating significantly to specific sectors with labour shortages, won't gratify ScoMo much either, especially in the face of high inflation + oil prices.

I expect both to come down over the coming months, but the question is one of timing.

I see that old mate (who always maintains that his vigorous insistence on the highest possible standard of proof for George Pell and Christian Porter was entirely about justice and due process, and nothing to do with political bias) reckons that when it comes to the future of our entire species on this planet, the burden of scientific proof is way too high and we should give equal regard to any old whackjob’s “opinions”.

It’s almost like he’s (gulp, ahem)…

biased.

Australian veterans are treated appallingly. And have been forever. The National war museum though…….🤔

WWI unforgettable, Frontier Wars not our problem.

For political reasons, not dumping him as AG immediately was a serious mistake.

He was in a position of legal influence, and the allegations around him revolved around a blood crime (rape), and those make people, especially women, very emotional.

There was no real benefit to letting him stay there.

It was sort of like Abbott's mishandling of Bronwyn Bishop, only even more serious given the context.

You couldn’t meet a nicer person than my mother-in-law. But wow, the language she uses when she talks about Morrison. She's one person yes, but to me it’s a sign that enough people are seeing Morrison for who he truly is. An incompetent, corrupt liar.
