Scummo is one lucky bastard. This is going to be the saviour of his election chances. Another Tampa
Howard had runs on the board. He navigated the gun law reform so appeared to keep the average Aussie safe so you could see why people voted for him. Scumo has nothing to hang his hat, in fact the complete opposite. It won’t be his children overboard moment. If he’d shown some stability during the pandemic yes but he’s shown exactly the opposite.

It is not a live issue. When Australia had boots on the ground in Timor it was barely a live issue.

Exactly. We had skin in the game. Give it a few weeks and it’ll be back to announcements that never go anywhere and Scumo back to making a baffoon of himself.

They’ve constantly tried to sell Scumo as the reincarnation of Howard and by the looks of it you’ll get a small minority that’s falling for it only for in a months time back to thinking “what a clown”

It's more that the war will erase people's memories of the pandemic pretty quick. The negativity of the bushfires was erased very soon after Covid started, and Morrison rode the popularity in a "time of crisis". Then as time dragged on people realised he was all piss and wind. Now he'll ride a popularity wave due to "standing up to the bully Putin", but it will only last a few months or so while the crisis goes on. Problem for the ALP is he will be calling the election in the next few months.

If the polls due within the next few weeks show a move to the Libs expect a snap election to be called ASAP.
The war is not going to matter to most Australians.

Nah he’s done
At the very least, IF we lose then at least it'll be you the lurkers come for instead of me this time.

Who am i ****ing kidding, they'll come for me again because i'm so good at what i do

This is so funny. The Ukraine problem will make no difference to our election. After 2 weeks people were sick of the China rubbish and that is much more relevant. And Australia had first recognise Taiwan before we start to get all upset about them.

The only thing it has done is been useful distraction from the aged care stuff. That has saved Morrison quite a bit of unwanted attention.

Better it happened now than may

If that sounds cold, it's because it is

9 years under the conservative boot will do that to a person

Yep.

Don't get me wrong, I loather Scummo and his cronies as much as anyone with a brain. But he will milk this for all it's worth. The media will be more focused on this than his last 3 years of f ups. I can see from the ABC News live feed he's preparing to address the nation at a podium flanked by Australian flags.

As much as I hate to do it here's a Sky News clip of snarky ass Caleb Bond. Yes he's a d*ckhead but he's revealing the Liberals election strategy.

Australia has to ‘look strong’ for the sake of the West

The Herald Sun’s Caleb Bond says it will “bode well” for Scott Morrison if things get worse in Ukraine as Australians will be leaning toward the incumbent government.
“But the only problem, really is there’s nothing we can do,” Mr Bond said.
“Having said that, we do have to try and look strong for the sake of the West, and that’ll look good to voters.”

I hate to say it but the election campaign fundamentally changed today. The Libs have the upper hand now I'm afraid.
Hasnt changed the election outcome at all. People will watch it on tv and not care certainly in comparison to other issues.

Morrison speaking now.

Even the national Liberal party hardcopy PR mouthpiece, the Australian, fully knows what the Liberals election strategy will be:

The population have just gone through two years of complete upheaval. Do you think they want this type of upheaval again? Imo the average person just wants to be left alone and live a life as normal as possible. Not a clown screaming “war, war, war”

Morrison is trying to get Australians to associate Australia/his government with this crisis by painting himself as "standing up for 1400 innocent Aussies who have been trapped in the Ukraine".

The Pandemic brought two years of lockdowns and travel bans. Mass disruption. With a war in the Ukraine there won't be any noticeable difference to the lives of Australians despite a temporary spike in fuel prices.

They may fall in behind a clown screaming "war, war, war" if they get caught in the propaganda, but they're not going to suffer the consequences.

Just look at that press conference just completed. Morrison is "Standing up to Russian leaders, generals and mercenaries". it will make zero difference to Russia's actions, but it makes him look strong when the last few weeks has been full of stories about how weak a leader he is and how his own party hates him. From today on he's a "strong leader" leading a "strong unified team" standing up to Putin.

He didn’t give two shits for two years almost in fortress australia ‘and I make no apology for that’

Cue all the usuals ‘they’ve had plenty of warning to leave’
