Bet ten bucks that not a damn thing will be done for the volunteers because "they want to be there"
I don't think anything will be done either. In which case, lynch away!

Ha Ha Ha Yes.
ScoMo's just got off his flight to stand in front of the bus for a photo to show what a man of the people he is.
Well we know what sort of a man of the people ScoMo is now.
I remember when he was questioned about it.
He didn't bat an eyelid regarding it.
Didn't bat an eyelid when he thought of sneaking out of Australia either.

For anyone who actually still thinks politicians visiting fire fronts regularly is a good thing, consider this.

For Albos photo op the other day, firefighters who finished their shifts prior to his arrival were sent to Maccas for breakfast on their way home because food wasn’t being served until the opposition leader was there for his photo op! That’s great for morale letting people go hungry just to show you care!

So tell us, what was it like there when Albo did turn up.

NSW premier explained in a press conference the federal government have no authority or position in chain of command in regards to fires.

Do the whiners still want him to sit there doing nothing for four months until the first are out?

When you put it like that - he doesn't actually do anything.

Curtin didn't shoot Nazis either, but he was a leader.

'Sneaking out of Australia' - for a family holiday that was probably planned and booked over a year ago, really...?.

OK, let's consider the alternative universe where last week the PM decides to cancel said holiday and remain in Australia.
Any chance the corresponding media headlines would then be:

PM CANCELS FAMILY HOLIDAY COSTING TAXPAYERS $30,000 TO REMAIN IN COUNTRY TO OFFER HIS THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS!

No, of course not.
THEY'D BE A LOT LESS STORIES WRITTEN ABOUT THE PM BEING ON HOLIDAYS IN HAWAII WHILST NSW BURNS.

At the risk of placing pennies on the tracks of the PM bashing train here, if anyone can list previous dates and destinations of Scomo and a few recent former PM's personal holidays, without extensive research, I'd be very surprised?

The security protocols in place by the department of Prime Minister & Cabinet do not permit the public disclosure of any advance or current information pertaining to the PM's personal holidays! Only the PM or acting PM can approve of exceptions.

For one thing, during the PM's regular 'official' overseas travel/visits, he/she is usually accompanied by three, sometimes four AFP bodyguards, who often coordinate with the visiting countries relevant security agencies etc.- however when the PM travels on personal leave/ holidays, depending on the destination, it's usually just one bodyguard.

Still, don't let the facts get in the way of a good story - the PM ran away, while his country was burning, he was deliberately in hiding etc. etc...

Is your post actual facts? I remember seeing tweets of Scomo's car and trailer when he was going down the coast during they year?

And his trip to Fiji also this year is pretty common knowledge?

Are you posting from within PM&C? Are your posts fact or supposition?

Dear Doris,
In country holiday/personal travel by the PM or for that matter any minister is not relevant to my post - although again PM&C will only provide the media details if it's approved by said minister and often with local holidays it is. At the risk of repeating myself all 'official' overseas travel plans by the PM are usually known and shared with the media sometimes 18 months in advance - this is rarely the case with the PM's personal overseas holidays.

The PM has had three trips to Fiji this year, two were 'official' visits of which one also included a few days personal leave at the end. In fact, some former PM's would do this all the time when overseas, but new legislation about taking personal leave while officially overseas (introduced in the late 90's) is so restrictive most ministers don't bother doing this anymore - although the PM gets a bit of leeway.

PM and wife arriving in Fiji, if you look closely you may notice it's not a Jetstar plane! Would you also like me to list who the welcoming dignitaries are and their respective positions...?
Oh look, there's Johnny Feakes, our High Commissioner, as usual he'd rather look at the camera than care about the boss and wife falling down the stairs...

Why did he coerce the media into not reporting it, and why did his office actively lie about it?

Wouldn’t have mattered if so many people didn’t BS about it, from the deputy PM all the way down to the media itself...

It is supposed to be published in the gazette if the deputy PM is running the country...

ah, you’re just making things up.

It was changed, from Jan

Our leave was brought forward due to the need to cancel our scheduled leave in January because of our official government visit to India and Japan at the invitation of PMs Modi and Abe," Mr Morrison said in a statement issued on Friday morning.

no one cares he had a week with his family.

There’s no protocol to not report the PM is away on a holiday. they tried to hide he went away, if they just said the above, it wouldn’t have been a big deal

combine that with him largely ignoring the fires, comments of “they want to be there”, ignoring fire chiefs, fire fighters asking for WATER to drink while his church being funded $110k for cameras..... and you wonder why he’s getting a hard time.

The security protocol was so tight he was photographed with Aus tourists and it was posted to social media.

If ScoMo had actually contributed something to the fire discussion before he left this Wouldnt have turned into such a shit show.

Ironic.

If we can ignore the paranoia of the lunatic Left for a minute, it's not a great look for the Leader of the country to be partying in Honolulu while the country burns.
It was a dumb move for so many obvious reasons. Of course he couldn't have done much but the perception was terrible and it allowed Albanese some air time to remind people that the ALP still existed. He should have been going around offering suppory.and agreed to hold a summit with states about how to get ready for future.
