He's made one crucial error. That is the National Cabinet doesn't have the Federal Opposition and minor parties as active participants in this crisis. At a time where national unity is the primary goal, extending the olive branch to Federal Labor, Greens, One Nation, Centre Alliance, Katter and Lambie would achieve this

The PM and Premiers have made clear that response to COVID is the responsibility of executive government. I can understand the argument the Federal opposition should be in there, and probably agree with it (not in a decision making capacity however, more an observer) but no groups further than that.

Although he's really taking cues from the UK, I have to say that the JobKeeper scheme is the most ambitious, brave scheme put in place by a government that I can remember.

If it staves off* or even limits a recession, then it's difficult for me to begrudge him being re-elected.

*Could be too late for that though, given the payments are not due to begin for at least a month

Agree, it's a bold strategy. I hope it works.

His delivery still needs some work as the message got a little confusing at times. But I found him much clearer than previous times.

Roosevelt New Deal levels

fu** me thats an eye watering spend! God help us.

P.S why is it that lefties are only happy when government is spending us to the edge of oblivian?

Relax.
Almost half of the $130bn is already counted in the $70bn he spent last week on doubling the dole.

So it is more smoke and mirrors so when the spend is lower than $36 trillion (😁😁😁😁) he can say how good they were at managing money. Yep, can read him like a book.

Last week you were getting $1100 per fortnight, this week it's $1500 per fortnight.
Who knows what will be on offer next week.
