How is it "not democracy"?

Outlets make decisions about stories as a matter of course. Without further information, it's not proof of some sinister conspiracy.

What is the supposedly damaging revelation in all of this? One of ScoMo's mates is into QAnon? OK - is this guy setting policy? Frankly I find that less unsettling than ScoMo's own well-known happy-clappy religious beliefs.

That is all fine. There is zero reason why the media should not be able to report on it.

I think the key point is that JobKeepers failing were not an accident just like RoboDebt was not an accident.

This government picks winners. Lifters and leaners and all that sh*t when the truth is the Liberals “lifters” are actually the biggest leaners in Australia

Harvey Norman is a huge News Corp advertiser, one of the biggest.

All those HN wraparounds on the big metro newspapers last year.

JobKeeper cash, straight thru companies like HN and into the government’s real partners: News, Nine and Seven.

takes out full front page adds during Scomo scandals too

A lot of fine folk have enjoyed a night out on the Coolabah. You shouldn't be so disparaging of ok wine. Not all of us can afford the Spumante or Passion Pop.
Reminds me of years ago when I was in Surabaya of all joints (Christ knows what I was doing there). But anyway, we chanced on this small roadside
family restaurant. It was really nice and clean but what really caught our attention was that listed on it's menu was "Fine Australian Wine".
Intrigued and as I was also hanging out for a plonk, we came in and asked the owner if we could have a few wines.
Man. You ought have to seen the beaming smile. At last, some sophisticates in her restaurant.
Watched her as she toddled off to get them, open the fridge and there was this sad, sagging football shaped cask of Coolabah. My heart sank.
She came back to the table proudly bearing 3 glasses on a silver tray and lay them before us like a mother hen. It was quite a performance.
And the wine, surprisingly, wasn't too bad. We all got a plonk into us and the owner was chuffed. That's the main thing.

Nope, government made a dumb rule, which I said at the time, and smart businesses took advantage.

I have said this multiple times, why do people say only Gerry Harvey when hundreds of thousands of businesses did the same thing? And all of them made money, alot quite a bit of money.

I think because he publicly stated no intent to repay, when some other companies either volunteered to repay or when pressured then repaid.
That is based of recollection only though.

the main thing is that Gerry got to buy more horses with that money, & pocket the rest

never mind that there was $22 million less for people out of work or small business owners.

So how many mum and dad businesses repaid? There would be hundreds of thousands of businesses who fudged figures to get jobkeeper for 6+ months, including sole traders and the like. Why not the outrage for them to lay it back?

Because they weren't splashing it across newscorp with front page ads

Sure, but it's all about optics. Harvey Norman recieved $22m in Jobkeeper payouts. Harvey Norman then made a profit of $462m during the pandemic, with profits doubling from the same time as 2019. As a result Gerry received a dividend of $78m.

Especially as about 50% or so of small businesses in Australia make less than $200,000 per year. It's hardly comparable to Harvey Norman.

Plus Gerry is a colossal campaigner.

No public profile, not openly spending of frivolous shit (horses) so treated like small business welfare which in the big scheme of things is not begrudged.
