Remember at the end of each year each section's scribe in the Amateur Footballer A & B Grand Final edition picks his team of the year in that section. Well, say for example that the VAFA decide to play an interstate (or rep game ie VCFL, Southern Football League) game every 2 years (2008, 2010) in between the 2 year period, have a 'Section-of-Origin' game (a bit like the Rugby League City-Country game). Pick a team from each section to play against one another (ie A Section, B Section etc). The 'Section-of-Origin' games would also count as a full-scale selection trial for the Victorian team. It'll be a bit like in New Zealand, where the All Blacks have thier selection trials-Possibles v Probables, with whoever starring or playing extremely well to get an All Black jumper. What you got to understand is that in country Victoria, the VCFL have their annual championships, featuring leagues such as Bendigo, Goulburn Valley, Geelong etc. This helps their country players adapt to representative football. And the VAFA doesn't have that luxury. The Section of Origin could change all that.

What do you think of this idea??

Very good thought, not sure there would be a lot of passion though.

Well, there's be something extra in those 'Section-of-Origin' games if they ever do go ahead with it-a spot in the Victorian teams. The next best thing after playing in a premiership side, is representing Victoria in state games. After all, the VCFL have their Country championships to pick the VCFL side to play against the Amateurs-why not the VAFA?
