WA have surprised a few pundits by going into this game unchanged. Team cohesion was a problem and there wasn't enough consistancy from the squad in their last outing so perhaps captain Ljp is looking to see if his charges will click second time around. Ljp himself was one of few shining lights for the Black Swans with larrikin rucking well and Glinn Mgraw punching well above his weight from the half back flank.

On the other hand, Vic Metro have tinkered with their winning formula, swapping a few of the pocket-fillers and mixing up their midfield. There was a push from some quarters to replace the out of form full forward Juggalo Balla, however the most likely replacement, co-captain Freakie resisted the calls in the hope JB can reclaim the sort of form that led him to winning the AlfAndrews Medal. At the other end of the playing list beez pulled out a 6 star performance to put the Country bumpkins to the sword and St Fly was superb in the ruck.

Round 02, Conditions for this match - WARM
It's downright hot here in Perth. The mercury hasn't been below 30 since 5am and it is sweltering. Will the conditions have an impact? No doubt Vic Metro will be drained by the conditions, but can the WA boys cope with such extreme conditions? We've already had one delightful young local lady removed from the ground with heatstroke after she performed the wobbliest streak in living memory across the ground.

Juggalo Balla is looking in ominous form with two in that term, along with singles to cooney, St Fly and Gilbert_Hodge, who was good early. kayliesharks is the lone goals scorer for the Western Australians as boncer looked below his best once again.

Despite taking it up to the Vics in parts of that quarter, WA managed only one more goal to Metro's four. That makes it a 39 point ballgame at the half time break. Metro don't seem to be overly affected by the heat, although it was obviously a concern for both sides with a fair bit of hands-on-knees work around the stoppages.

Juggalo Balla now has three goals to Boncer's none. drd is giving him a touch up while PooMonkey forced Glinn Mgraw to the bench and a goodly proportion of Metro's rebounds are coming through him. In the midfield beez is having a good tussle with ShadowMan while WGS is providing a lot of run and St Fly is leading the hitouts.

For WA, not a lot is going right. peterss, Ljp and Shadow Man are battling hard in the midfield, The Falcon Strike is coping well with the ball coming at him at a million miles on hour and kayliesharks is lively up front but it will take a huge effort to reverse the damage done in that first half.

If Metro run out of gas in these sizzling conditions then WA just need to last longer and run over the top of them. doggies ftw soccers it through for a rushed behind as the siren sounds and Metro celebrate by falling to the ground. They are gone for all money but they've survived four quarters of everything WA, it's weather and crowd could throw at them. 21 points at the final siren as WA, just like Vic Country before them, couldn't capitalise on their opportunities in front of goals. Metro were too good in the 20 minutes wither side of the first break and the 30 point lead they accrued was the difference in the end. WA came storming home but couldn't convert and in the end that cost them dearly. They're winless, Metro are undefeated and looking good so far this tournament. Let's have a look at the stats:

kayliesharks and Boncer were wasteful infront of goals, larrikin was beaten in the ruck and around the ground and not enough players stood up for WA in general. Their midfield was good in parts and great in others, but mostly beaten by Metro.

Had a real chance in the last quarter to steal the game but failed to make the most of our opportunities. To kick 3.9 in the term shows we were all over them but the most frustrating part was not being able to kick straight and in the end it cost us. Had we kicked accurately we would have won the game.

Pretty poor effort the last two games, midfield was better this time around but there are still a number of passengers, particularly some of the more experienced players who have been fairly ordinary to date. Going to make a few changes for the next round as this isn't working at the moment.
