Went and watched who I thought were premiership favourites on saturday @ highett. HP looked old and slow, not sure if having the week off played a part, but the only positive I had given them is that Hawkins is the best ruckman in the comp.

Sets up perfectly for a round 5 early grand final, EM have Highett this week @ Highett, result could be interesting in terms of confidence going into round 5.

EM only just put away Endeavour Hills too, haven't watch any of it as of yet, but by the looks of the score im gonna say scrappy / average game of football, no Morrisby impact either.

HP had a few out but no excuses.... Highett dominated all day and deserved to win by more.

Yep hp probably have 8 senior players to return over the next month but like you said no excuses from what I was told from a hp player that highett could of won by more and played well think they may have gone there a bit over confident after 2 big wins and highett are never easy at home as they found out

Just heard a couple of people talking about it , that's all
What did you over hear those couple of people speaking about Bedford? Or do you some have ex Caulfield players at your club that know the ins and outs? So now that we know you have the inside word, enlighten us

I actually played for the VFA version and would be concerned if there was issues , but people talk . Same as a lot of discussion of VAFA clubs going to SFL

Fair enough. Maybe a Caulfield / Ormond merge?

On the topic of the district VAFA clubs joining the SFNL, always talk of it happening year in year out, never any action. Those vafa clubs can no longer claim they play a better standard. I think many of the VAFA clubs have missed the boat to be frank. I watched 2 and a bit quarters of Beauy / Parkdale Saturday … let’s just say Beauy ain’t getting near Southern top grade

Which district clubs are best placed for the SFNL to get?
Obviously Beaumaris would be #1, however what other clubs are there. I feel Parkdale have had a mini resurgence and seem comfortable in VAFA at the moment, after a few lean years.
Glen Eira are in a bit of trouble, struggling to remain competitive in the early part of the season.
Ormond?
Oakleigh?
Hampton Rovers?
Sth Districts?
St Johns?
Masala?
Chadstone?

Probably missed a few there!

Beaumaris would be a great get but their committee believe they are above the southern 2 level but results and my eye tells me they are starting division 2.

St.Johns may aswell merge with Keysborough. Both wax players over the summer and can’t see st.John’s getting any higher than D2 Vafa (division 5) and Keysborough are struggling

Rovers - 0 chance. They enjoy the every 3rd year competing in premier B.

Parkdale - built themselves back up nicely. They flirt with the idea and are an original SFNL club but I don’t think they would come.

Oakleigh- floundering in D1 (Division 4) not sure they are beginning above southern 3, but they would fit the mould. No Oakleigh districts now either

Ormond - Bedford can speak for them… fit the SFNL but they umm and argh at crunch time. Same division as Oakleigh so… Division 3 southern ?

Elsternwick
South Melb Dist.
Hawthorn Ammos?
Chadstone
Kew ?

Glen Eira count themselves as a skool boys outfit these days but they look destined for relegation at this early stage

Agree regarding Beaumaris, St John's, Hampton Rovers, Parkdale, Oakleigh and Glen Eira.

Ormond maybe SFNL Div 2 or 3.

Doubt Elsternwick, Chadstone, Hawthorn, Powerhouse and Kew would cross over.

Dunno about South Melbourne Districts - reckon they'd stay unless certain other clubs left.

Albert Park?

Sorry definitely not Div 3 a former ressies battler is skipper of St Kilda City in Div 3 . Great junior program and the future looks okay for awhile , but the area is going like Box Hill
Personally would've been against it a couple of years ago , but swaying towards it now

Albert Park probably perfect for the SFNL division 4 tier but they could also argue that their geographical location probably best suits the vafa?

Powerhouse the same.

Interesting topic none the less but not sure there are many clubs mentioned that make the jump.

Albert Park are a basket case playing on an under 10s size ground

Beaumaris would beat Murrumbeena for sure.

Parkdale Vultures would beat Bentleigh.

VAFA Prem C is about SNFL Div 1 level.
