Roast Should Richmond begin searching for Luke Meehan's replacement immediately?

Should Richmond look for a big bucks, top tier replacement for Luke "The Punt Rd Slasher" Meehan?

  • Yes. Club needs to be ruthless and "Pay the Price!".

  • No. We should back in Meehan and gamble our aging stars bodies, potentially sacrificing 2024.

  • No. replace with another el cheapo McGee with their online $29 P.T cert IV and cross our fingers.

  • Undecided.

Gibcus’ hamstring injury is understood to be far more complicated than the issue the co-captain faced early in his career. Tigers physical performance boss Luke Meehan has spent recent months engaging with external experts across the globe to get to the bottom of an issue that has left specialists stumped........

Can only begin to imagine the "experts" Louie consulted with. How does The Punt Rd Slasher still have a job? If he's contracted he should be demoted to getting skidmarks out of shorts and nothing more. Can't believe he's not been replaced? Why is a bloke with a 20 hour cert IV in personal training in charge of looking for a solution? Should be left to the real experts who studied medicine for 6+ years.

The results are not good, but its a bit hard to s**t on someone about their entire profession when we actually have no real insight to how he has stuffed any of these recoveries up. They may just be really bad injuries.

But yeah, my gut instinct is he's most likely s**t

Tigers physical performance boss Luke Meehan has spent recent months engaging with external experts across the globe to get to the bottom of an issue that has left specialists stumped, finding only one athlete based in the United Kingdom who has faced something similar, underlining the task the club is facing.

So we are expecting Meehan to be across this injury when all the experts in the world couldn't pin it down.

He went to Qatar near the end of the season (yes a month or two too late) and now 'Gibcus will depart on Friday with Tigers physiotherapist Anthony Schache – who has worked for the Tigers for more than 20 years and has a strong relationship with Aspetar – and will spend the week trying to overcome the frustrating injury once and for all, returning with a plan to execute over the summer months.

Reads to me that they are being cautious and going back for a second round of intensive treatment, and learn some stuff that he can take back and work with over the summer.

Sounds prudent to me, what more to you want. I doubt it is Meehan's fault that this injury is one in a one in a million hamstring injury.

Did he escalate it early enough?
Probably not. That's the biggest mismanagement here IMO.

Should have been on a plane months ago.

Yes he should have gone earlier, but as the article says Meehan has been consulting with experts from all over the world trying to pin this down. It was so rare that none of these experts could assist. Not like he was sitting on his hands.

Finally they seemed to have pinned down the actual injury and have sent him off twice now to try and make sure it doesn't happen again. He is back running at 85%, so this seems this time it will be an intense rehab and information stint for Gibcus and the physio, who would has been more involved/responsible with his rehab than Meehan, a physio that has been with us for 20 years.

Seems to me the physio would be far more responsible for what has been going on with Gibcus than Meehan.

Part of the plan to have both Lynch and Gibcus not play again next season so we finish last and have pick 1 for Cadman.

Feels like Meehan is going to survive somehow.
I saw the signs of his incompetence during pre-season.

I'm mature enough to give him a chance to change my mind in 2024. Not holding my breath though. At least the club will be mandated to be more precise on injury reporting.
The ducks and drakes we experienced during 2023 was reprehensible.

As a whole our performance and conditioning was mess last year. Preseason we look flat as anything and not in condition. Add to that the reoccurring injuries. Gibcus should have been sent months ago what was the holdup they couldn’t work it out all year.

Reckon Yze will lift the intensity this year. Dees have gone typically gone hard early over the last few seasons.

Now the AFLW team has the longest injury list in the competition.

You might think looking at this picture that things are getting out of hand

But never fear I have it on good authority that Louie has found a true expert with revolutionary techniques to come on board to solve our injury plague

Dr Elmer Hartman says hi.

looks like he will get another crack at it and they're not going to judge him off 1 year in the top job but our soft issue injuries have been a problem for a while the last couple of Peter Burge years.
