Roast Should Richmond begin searching for Luke Meehan's replacement immediately?

Should Richmond look for a big bucks, top tier replacement for Luke "The Punt Rd Slasher" Meehan?

  • Yes. Club needs to be ruthless and "Pay the Price!".

  • No. We should back in Meehan and gamble our aging stars bodies, potentially sacrificing 2024.

  • No. replace with another el cheapo McGee with their online $29 P.T cert IV and cross our fingers.

  • Undecided.

Ffs's I just saw on channel 9 the Cats have zero injuries atm "owing to missing the finals and having the benefits of an extended break!!!!" TWELVE of their players are already over 30 yo with quite a few mid 30's. In comparison we have SEVEN with a few having just turned 30 (including Pickett who's body has escaped endless knocks by virtue of spending years in prison)

The farce of last year with the joke of 4 week Injuries blowing out to 6 week Injuries 6 weeks later eventually becoming season ending has rolled over to this year. $100,000,000 business being brought undone by blind stupid loyalty. Our search to fill the role was a complete farce. Next in line given the role instead of seeking out the outstanding candidate. And it looks like yet again we're reaping what we sew.

INSANITY: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

Lastly blind Freddie knew Grimes didn't deserve an extension, especially not way back in March. If I read Prestia has been extended again before the end of the season I'll f@cken spew!!!! For all the games he missed he should play next year for free.

I've been off Meehan for a while. We seem to be the main offender in the AFL for a 1 week injury becoming 3 weeks, and a few month injury become a season, and plenty of in between where 2-3 becomes 4-5, etc.

Either the initial prognosis and management is inaccurate, which is on him, or the management of the initial injury is poor and it takes longer, which is again on him.

It should be one of the highest spend areas of our soft cap. Injury management and physical performance is critical. Get some overseas expert if needed, plenty of talent from elite organisations in Europe and the US if we can't find anyone better here. Even explore other codes in Australia.

I think the lack of transparency with injuries really hurts Meehan's support from the fans, but in reality we've been keeping our injuries very secretive since Balmey arrived.

Geelong does the exact same thing as us too, so their zero injuries is hard to believe.

I guess you think they're really good at hiding injured players. Painting moon boots to appear like a leg and a footy boot. And hiring exact body doubles to complete full training while an invisible cloak hides their injured group running laps?

Or they're a combination of lucky and well managed and have zero Injuries. Meanwhile we still have the same guy in charge who oversaw fresh kids in Seth Campbell, Steely Green, Kaleb Smith have minor injuries that kids usually bounce back from blow out to season ending. Add that to the Lynch, Tarrant, Gibcus all failing to get back on the park. Soldo coming back for 1 game being declared fit then needing 11 weeks to bounce back.

It was amazing seeing other teams have blokes get so called season ending injuries for them to be back in 3-4 weeks, while our 3-4 week Injuries blew out to season ending. If you owned a manufacturing plant and your maintenance crew were as unreliable as our fitness and rehab crew your company would be bankrupt.

So 9 players in rehab is keeping things quiet, how do 2 or 3 week injuries turn in to months ? Rehab? Diagnosis?

its beyond concerning
Prestia…Meehan reports him as the fittest he has ever been, lasts 2 minutes in a scratch game ……..lol

Grimes hasn’t had a run yet in pre season , yet he is tracking well?

At this stage of his career Meatball is a liability. You just know he's going to come off injured and if he doesn't he'll be playing injured with limited output. Dow should have his spot starting right now even if he escapes serious hamstring injury. We have to let go of the ego factor of playing premiership heroes in the 2's. It's a perfectly valid option for them to prove fitness/ability to survive games without their legs flying off.

Another test for Meehan, let's see if the initial prognosis and management is correct and Prestia is back out there with the main group in 2-3 weeks or if this somehow blows out beyond.

Also, it might be the pessimist in me but I feel like I can see exactly how this plays out. He's considered right to go and gets out there for round 0/ or round 1 maybe, looks a million bucks in the first quarter and a half with 14 possessions and then by half time he's sitting on the bench, subbed out with ice on his hamstring or calf....

Lincoln McCarthy think the commentators said he played 25 out of 120 games at the Cats couldn't get on the field always injured goes to Brisbane plays practically every game out of 120. Joe Daniher 11 games in 3 seasons at bummers endless soft tissue injuries. Hasn't missed at Brisbane. Callum Ah Chee 40 games out of 90 at Gold Coast. Goes to Brisbane same story again.

We've got the lowest paid coach in the comp, all our staff are getting poached left right and centre. Time we used the soft cap to steal the Brisbane strength and conditioning team, medicos make them an offer they can't refuse. Use our Alligned health fitness centres to pay 25% of their wages over summer.

Most of us old farts played in the day of you were concussed you ran it out, stretching after a game was via grabbing a few tinnies from the eskie. HTF did most of us have Prestia rested or at minimum sub for the second game after the 4 day interstate game yet the club couldn't see it coming 😳😳😳😳 Make no mistake Graham keeps breaking down too and never should've played round 1 last year on back of limited pre season. Soldos return was stuffed up.... not gonna list last years debacles again but already looking like our fitness/ conditioning/ rehab/ medical team have NFI! Needs a massive overhaul asap. HTF do we make squillions from fitness centres whilst being clueless in that field????

I was under the impression McCarthy wasn't best 22 at Cats and really grew into his own at Lions.

As for Daniher, he had osteitis pubis which is very slow to recover, but there was clearly an aspect of him not being interested and Essendon wanting to preserve his trade value by not making it worse.
Brett Deledio was similar before his time ended with Tiges. Wasn't that interested and the club knew it.

FMD!!! The clubs become amateur hour over this matter. I admire the fact that Ross the boss was unhappy so acted immediately and WCE identified its an urgent matter so had a worldwide search. Meanwhile Punt Rd sits on its hands and puts its head in the sand so as not to hurt anyone's feelings. 5 injuries in 1 game (Young can't help) not to mention there's Lynch, Nank in the side who could easily break down and Dusty. What's the bet Graham gets rushed back without slow build up through magoos. Complete overhaul of the whole dept at seasons end would be the right move as all our guns are only gonna be a year older.

If Meehan was a horse you'd take him out the back and shoot him

been saying it for a while, why the * dont we bring our injured vets back thru the 2s? It means they get an easier transition into match conditions and if they do break down they haven't left us a man short on the bench in the seniors.
prove they can run out a full 4 qtrs then they get considered for the firsts.

only argument i can think of is that suburban grounds aren't in the same pristine knick but surely theyre not that bad, good enough for our kids.
