It was absolutely obvious to all and sundry on this board that the champ was way past it. The second half of last year was proof that the game had past him.

So there are no surprises that his game panned out how it did.

9 touches and 5 frees against shows how much he struggled.

Not the way the great man should be remembered.

Thompson should have to get up in front of the media and apologize to fans and the other players for being so selfish. For using the media and his contacts to pressure the club into giving him an extension he didn't deserve.

Then Campo can follow him and make an apology of his own.

Both offer their resignations to show contrition.

Hopefully Greenwood back next week

As long as they don't think the reason Sloane had a good gamers washing because Thommo was in.

Isn't it the clubs fault for being so weak?

If he's managed to eek out another $300k for this year he's a genius. That should hold him over for another 5 years (given afl/sports players) get a rolling average tax assessment over 5 years.

It was always going to take him a bit to get back into the speed of AFL. Some frees were unlucky. Thommos only addition to the side now are his fast hands at a contest. I think he will get one more game and then announce his retirement.

I dont blame him for putting his hand up for this season... We had Sloane and Mrouch as recognised mids. Brouch was always injured, and the rest were relatively unknown. He put his hand up to be the backup plan. Good on him accepting his position as age took its toll, absolute champion

Selfish is what it is.

Probably 4 too many frees. The high tackle was the only one that was there and should've been paid.

But yeah, obvious to all he is not at AFL standard any more.

The holding the ball where he was caught stone cold? He called for it, got it, had numerous options, holds onto it, gets done, classic Thommo

What a pathetic thing to say about a club champion.

Stupid thread

I actually think this was the know NS of thing Thomko needed to prove to him he's done.

He may actually retire now

Both as bad as each other.

Thommo and the spuds in the coaches box who we keep on the payroll after 10 years should all apologise to the supporters that keep turning up for more of the same s**t.
