Doughty seems to be the opposite of his name. Should have been delisted in my view.
Welsh is out of sorts. maybe they should drop him back to the SANFL for a couple of games to find his rhythm.. He seemed to be jumping at the wrong time against Collingwood.

If johncock plays forward i'll be ********ed!

Ok ditch S. Stevens, Ladhams and Begley

Begley will play if he's named on the ground.

Which means Skipworth will also play... :(

Not necissarily but if Hart isn't playing Begley's a good chance.

Out of the named bench Thompson and Biglands will play

No actually its the rules. If a player is named in the 18 he will play unless he gets inured before the game.

Begley will play but for the life of me I can't understand what was the basis of his selection as his form has been very ordinary so far

odd bench...

who of the 7 will miss out ????.....Biglands and Thompson have to play...........you would think 1 of Bock or S Stevens will play..........so that just leaves one spot between VB, Torney, and Lads..... .....why would they bother naming Torney and Lads if they weren't going to play ??

add to that - the mail is that The Count will play........

I must be a bad judge 'cos I'd have all 3 in the 22....!!

The only other possibility is that Shirley wont play which means that 2 of those 3 will play.....which IMO will be VB and Torney.

did any of that make sense ????

Yes, but y'know what I think would make this less confusing?

I'd love to see the SANFL teams on the SANFL site on a Thursday night.

It would make it easier to know who is playing where. Why wait for the Friday Tiser? More people would visit their site - heck, If they'd offer to email all the line ups each week out to the fans I'd sign up for it.

The SANFL site is a dud. They never list the teams on a Thursday night and are always late with the scores. It seems that whoever is responsible for updating it really doesn't give a ********.

Not a good advertisment for - supposedly - the 2nd best Aussie rules comp in the land.

The WAFL website has been developed by the same people, however, it always seems to be up to date with regards to teams and scores.

A conundrum and one hamstrung by Stiffys mention of the starting 18 rule.Either someone in the 18 is in doubt and will be repalced or this is Ladhams half reward for doing the right thing.

Lets try and make sense of this. Does your back line include Begley or Johncock? Mine does so Johncock in the backline and Begley out ..sudden mystery injury.Who plays the forward pocket then? Welsh in the pocket and Biglands at FF for me.I cant see S Stevens standing next to Welsh. Why have 2 same sized forwards?Shirley is injured and wont play so Thompson comes in to the followers role.

So now we see something like this.

PLAYERS
Backs: G. Johncock N. Bassett B. Rutten
Half Backs: M. Doughty K. McGregor B. Reilly
Centre: H. Skipworth M. Ricciuto M. Mattner
Half Forwards: T. Edwards I. Perrie S. Goodwin
Forwards: S Welsh R Biglands T. Hentschel
Followers B. Hudson, A. McLeod ,S Thompson
Interchange: N. Van Berlo, J. Torney, C. Ladhams,J Begley , R Shirley, S Stevens,N Bock

The 2 missing out so far is Begley and Shirley and I think they will be joined by S Stevens .This leaves Torney as your defensive back up, Ladhams as a midfielder/ crumbing forward, Bock as well Bock and VB to soak up the atmosphere and play mdifield and forward when required.

This could all change in about 30 minutes :D or 12 ..thanks Jerome

After having a look at todays SANFL sides in the Tiser, I think we can eliminate Bock and S Stevens. Both have been named in the starting line up by their respective teams.

Yep, Bock & Scott Stevens seem likely to miss. Which poses the question, are we going in too small? No 3rd ruckman & no tall to come off the bench?? Maybe the Torney selection is a smokescreen...one of Bock or Scott Stevens may still get a gig??

I've looked at the teams this morning, and I'm trying to remain positive...but I'm more convinced now that Port will probably sneak home by 9 - 15 points. We've lost a huge amount of experience with Bode, Hart and M.Stevens out.

They're an older, far more experienced team and would be disappointed if they dropped this match to the 12th ranked team from last year. Particularly now that the injury counts of best-22 players are pretty similar.

Crows Out - 5 - Burton, Clarke, Hart, Bode, M.Stevens (def in our best-22 when fit).
Power Out - 6 - Burgoynes, Pickett, Mahoney, Bishop, Thurstans

Begley is also named for Sturt, so perhaps he is the 3rd to drop out. Unusual he is named in the starting-18 for both sides.

Well spotted Kane, I didn't notice that!

I don't remember the Crows ever doing that before.

I guess this points towards Chris Ladhams almost certainly getting a game? Yes, no, yes....

I havn't had a chance to see the Crows play this season and was wondering how BIGLANDS is going with the new ruck rules. He seems to go pretty well against us in the centre bounces and interested if the new rules have affected his centre play, thanks.

While its not good to see players of Hart's ability injured I must say I'm happy Benny is not playing this week.

I get the impression a lot of Crows fans don't rate Bode very highly (may be mistaken?) but I thought he was good at Port given his limited game time and certainly has shown a bit for the Crows when not injured.

At the same time the 'Tisers' website mentions Sturt not being helped by losing Begley to AFL ranks.

Who knows what the hell is going on.

Perhaps we are going with the Kangaroos trick, put players behind the ball - Torney lose in defence, and run a small forward line - Edwards, Welsh (leading forward), McLeod, Johncock, Hentschell (mobile) with Perrie at CHF dragging Cornes away from the corridor. A small quick forward line could cause a few problems! - Hell we don't have anything else to pin our hopes on!
