Brilliant preview shewho!

I wouldn’t say I hate the crows, my feelings towards them are much the same as those I have of my ex, probably best described as apathetic disdain, and the fact that I am forced to be reminded of the existence of them both on a semi regular basis is really quite irritating.
Apparently my ex is a ‘crows fan’, the first I heard of this was toward the end of the marriage when they told me that they “probably preferred the crows, as they had never met a decent port fan”. Nothing more was observed until my son began his illustrious, albeit short lived, Auskick career (another promising young star lost to fortnite it would seem) at which point the ex became the ‘worlds biggest crows fan’ and was constantly decked out in full clown colours, thankfully that seems to have been diminishing since ‘17, although you can guarantee the trackies will make an appearance after a port loss.

Which leads me to a question, does anyone actually know a proper Crows supporter? I’m not sure I’ve ever encountered one in the wild, with all those I do have the misfortune of meeting I could group them into one of 3 categories: those that see it as a status symbol, those who hate Port, and the strangest ones; those who hate a Port supporter? (Yes Aunty, I know you had a lousy childhood and blame your father, but you are in your 60’s and he’s been dead for years, is it really fair to throw so much venom at a football club and it’s supporters just because it was the team your dad followed?)

Anyway, would love to see a belting, but any win without injuries will do me just fine!

In my last job I worked with a guy who was a solid Crows supporter. He was a great bloke, good, intelligent workmate, and just a genuinely good person. We used to have a lot of good natured fun over our opposite affiliations, and never a hint of any bitchiness. But he’s the only one.

Anyone else nervous now it is game day? It should be a 15 goal win on paper but we all know Showdowns can go anyway. Crows have nothing to lose being severe underdogs so I have a feeling they might come out hard and catch us off guard....

They will come hard at us. This is their grand final for the year. I expect it to be a physical game, a bit snippy and if we get on top by 6 or 7 goals at half time or 3/4 time, they will park the bus in defence to stop a blow out.
Just like the first Showdown, then…

Players will need to be on their toes with hardman David Mackay around

Trust me, it was just a facade.

I had the misfortune of conversing with a Crows fan during the week, who informed me that Port's big chance was last year, but we blew it. He may be right, but he then went on to add that Adelaide will win its next premiership before Port wins one, which made me hope more than ever that we get it all together in this year's finals, and walk away with the cup!!!

I married into a Crows family, but they're the Sturt variety that still don't fully trust the Crows because Glenelg.....
