I said simmonds because he can play other roles such as CHF or CHB as well as ruck rathar than Sandilands who is just as good a ruck man as simmonds possible better as he also is younger and could mature into a exellent ruck man but his hieght seems to limmit his mobility a bit making it a little harder to play a other roles as well as simmonds.

I have seen both played a fair bit but in the modern game I woudl still rather the ruckman that can dominate field play as well.

I did not vote btw because I am biased.


Simmo is the coleman medallist of ruckmen. Wouldn't you love a great ruckman who can also kick a bag of goals and run all day?

LOL, Simmonds a poor mans Fraser, in order for that to be true, Fraser would first have to be a better player then Simmonds, which he is not

Have always found Simmonds to be a bit of a disappointment, given his attributes, but he looks like he may have turned the corner. Was excellent last year.

Would still take Sandilands though.

when talking about future, then sandi should because by all reports he will be in the elite.
so far though, i havent seen much from sandi, certainly no tearing games apart. yet.

As a matter of fact I watched too much. Thumping the ball 20 metres forward to an opposition player is not what I would call good rucking. I almost felt sorry for him at the Prelim /Final where he got every hitout but they all went straight to a swan

For Freo's needs I'd say Sandliands. In terms of better ruckman: Sandliands. In terms of versatility in which most teams require: Simmonds. I'll say Sandilands (a tad biased yes but I believe for Freo I'd keep Sandilands instead of getting Simmonds if the trade was proposed) but it's understandable as to why quite a few other sides would rather Simmonds.

Both are overrated by the media, but Sandilands is a fair way ahead.

Simmonds is old(ish), short for a ruckman and can NOT tap effectively. Very often he'll get 30 hitouts, 14 sharked by the opposition, 14 ineffetive hitouts, and 2 effective hitouts. His around the ground work is pretty good, but nothing spectacular. He is a decent ruckman, but not in the top 5.

Sandilands is a very good player but was ridiculously overhyped by the media towards the end of last year. He is improving dramatically, but still not quite elite. He still has a tendancy to just whack the ball forward mindlessly. He is getting better at tapping to advantage and in the few years should be a pro. He needs to be a bit more accountable and throw his weight around more. Don't forget that his guy was beaten easily by Jason Blake (giving away 20cm) earlier last year.

There wasn't a lot separating the two last year, but you've got to go for Sandilands mainly because of his age and size.
