Re: Massive news coming out of the Cattery this morning. Stay tuned!

good news not massive.
infact im not even happy about it.
disgrace.
sign Ablett up then get back to us talking about massive news.

Re: Massive news coming out of the Cattery this morning. Stay tuned!

It's exciting news, but not massive. And considering CatsInsider hasn't even come back with a follow-up and BigFooty and SEN are all over it, it's a social media fail too.

Re: Massive news coming out of the Cattery this morning. Stay tuned!

hmmm.....Stadium News.

Can someone tell the Cats Insider to never use the word "Massive News" whilst our best player still hasnt signed.

I'm sure the first reaction of every Geelong Supporter when the hear words "Massive News" is Gary Ablett has signed.

Re: Massive news coming out of the Cattery this morning. Stay tuned!

How do we know its just stadium news - isn't that just a rumour at this stage? It could still be something bigger ...

Re: Massive news coming out of the Cattery this morning. Stay tuned!

I would think the stadium is more government based news than Cattery news, and if it isn't then thats just dissapointing. Massive news should only be about the actual club.

I hope its the big one, or a dark horse Bomber signed an extension.

SEN were all over it this morning, and revealed the State Government's promise to fund the redevelopment if Australia wins their World Cup bid.

Re: Massive news coming out of the Cattery this morning. Stay tuned!

My god Geelong has got this so wrong.
People still holding on to hope of ablett news only to be let down by there club.
Gonna seriously piss off so many members.
Not good enough.
Think before you tweet idiots.

Re: Massive news coming out of the Cattery this morning. Stay tuned!

I see you're sooking on the main forum too.
What's your issue? It is huge news.

Re: Massive news coming out of the Cattery this morning. Stay tuned!

This is not exactly 'massive news', and not because I don't think a stadium upgrade would be awesome, but because it will only happen if we do win the WC, which is what, 50/50 at best? Of course they are going to fund it if we get the WC, not like they are going to make the GFC fork out money to pay for soccer.

Re: Massive news coming out of the Cattery this morning. Stay tuned!

Well the suggestion is that GFC have got the funding to do stage 3 of the development.
It's separate from the WC bid

Which means 35,000 capacity. That's huge.
As long as the point cook development works it will mean that the job that Cook set out to do will be complete.

That is massive news as far as I'm concerned. The club was in massive trouble.

And 15 years later it will be so financially strong that it will be here for another 100 years.

Re: Massive news coming out of the Cattery this morning. Stay tuned!

maybe if its massive and its Gaz its about his pimple. maybe there cloaning another Gaz for us

If this is true, then by all means this is massive news.

Re: Massive news coming out of the Cattery this morning. Stay tuned!

CatsInsider

The Vic Premier has just arrived at SS to announce redevlop funding which will secure the future of the club and ground.

Re: Massive news coming out of the Cattery this morning. Stay tuned!

I still maintain that it's very exciting, but not massive. ;)
But vinum coupe makes some great points.

That's not "massive" news. The club hasn't been in financial trouble for several years now, and the stadium redevelopment has been well known for a long time now and we've had no reason to believe it would not go ahead as planned. There's little new here.

It might have been "massive" news in 2004. In June 2010 its "good" news, arguably even "great" news, but a long way short of "massive" news.

Re: Massive news coming out of the Cattery this morning. Stay tuned!

CatsInsider

The redevelopment will increase capacity massively and possibly mean finals at the ground. Will put Cats into the echelon.

CatsInsider

Funding will go ahead with or without World Cup.

Excellent!

Re: Massive news coming out of the Cattery this morning. Stay tuned!

Okay, I think I'm changing my assessment of massiveness:
CatsInsider's just tweeted that funding will go ahead with or without World Cup.

But it could be more awesome than massive. ;)

Re: Massive news coming out of the Cattery this morning. Stay tuned!

i got excited as i was sure it was an ablett resigning... annoying but the news is pretty nice. if this does mean hosting finals and night matches than that's awesome news (but not massive)....

By the time all the stadium revamps are done Geelong will be at the bottom of the ladder lol. (tongue in cheek_

Everything would have to align for us to have a final in Geelong. It would be the first final only, against an interstate team, and positions 1-4 and 5 and 6 (includes Geelong) would have to be filled by a Melbourne team. Otherwise there will be chance that the AFL wont meet its agreement with the MCG.

This makes me happy and turns the news from "Good News" to "Great News"

Maybe a Mod should change the Title to "Approved - $25m for Skilled Stadium expansion to hold 35,000".
