Reports are that Davey has walked out of the club.

On top of the decision of McLean to walk, a player who had donated of $20 K of his own coin to the debt reduction, which is a sign of a player who loved that club.

Robbo had sour grapes & was treated poorly for someone that gave great service & recently attacked the culture at Melbourne. It appears there is something NQR at Melbourne.

A similar rumour was supposedly posted on a Demons forum, or is that where you heard it too?

If true...

Implosion!

Does melbourne offer a group discount with their trades? Be awesome if they'd chuck Davey in to "sweeten the deal" with Brock :D

I alluded to it in the McLean thread but there was a severe backlash from certain members of the playing group following the 'questionable tactics' employed by Bailey and co. in the last few rounds. Stay tuned.

No coincidence that the Davey reports came after McLean's walkout today. No substance yet.

And yes, there is something wrong, we're not winning games.

When you're not winning games, supporters don't turn up and players get disillusioned and want to find success elsewhere.

Surely not! I was just saying Melbourne will be a premiership threat in 2-3 years, losing Davey would be huge.

And I don't think you can use lack of success as an excuse. You don't see Richmond players requesting trades that often and we are the most success starved club in world sport!

That's not it. We werent winning games, we still had decent crowd figures, and our players didnt get disillusioned. Carlton survived.

Same with collingwood too. and essendon. and richmond for that matter (though they aren't out of the woods yet in terms of on-field success).

There's gotta be something else, another factor. How well is the coaching-staff/players relationship?

ROFL even if all their kids turn out to be guns, which i highly doubt, they are still atleast 5 years away from even challenging. Why do so many people think that high draft picks = premierships? Have the kids they have now shown more than those from other clubs?

Lovett + pick 26 for Davey. :cool::thumbsu:

You had decent crowd figures because you have a large base, proportionally they were smaller though.

Also, Carlton switched coaches during their years at rock bottom yes? We took on Bailey before our two wooden spoons, has any club kept a coach with that record?

Hence the player's become disillusioned and want to look elsewhere because there isn't the prospect of a new coach coming in and shaking things up.

Beware of reading too much into the Davey rumour however. As it stands, we're in no worse a spot than NM or PA who have also had players wanting out.

We collected 2 spoons under Pagan, and then extended his contract for some godforsaken reason.

If it wasn't for Pratt buying our way out of his contract, we could foreseeably still be in a bad situation - so I see your point.
