I don't think Gai would scratch Pierro because she doubts his ability to win it. The only reason he would be scratched is because he's injured and there's been no talk of that.

She wouldn't doubt a 20 start maiden horse could win the cox plate for her, she won't scratch him.

Its going to be a very weak Cox Plate & the shorter straight gives him the advantage over ATH. If I was Peter Moody I would be spewing chips, Manighar would have won the Cox plate in 2nd gear if he was at his best.

This... Problem is I dont think Nash has any other tacticts, he seems like a one trick pony being up on the speed stealing a few cheap sectionals and needs to get there at all costs.

A bit of work? No way, he did a power of work, the climbing of the hill has been dramatized but it was still a mammoth effort.

As for he wasn't good enough, the first 1000m were run at 11L quicker than an average 3 year old group 1 race. Add that to the work Nash made him do, it equates to a freak performance, and ATH wouldn't get within 3 lengths of Pierro if he wasn't slaughtered .

Being caught wide is fine. From there he decided to push forward when other options were available. That's ok. However when you've done work early to get to the front, don't compound the error by then trying to be aggressive from that position as if you had got there softly in the first place. That was THE error and that is what cost Pierro the race.

Admin stuff up results in early scratching in 2012 Thousand Guineas

The Chris Waller-trained Jade Marauder was an immediate scratching from Wednesday's $500,000 Group I Schweppes Thousand Guineas (1600m) at Caulfield on Wednesday due to an administration error.
Waller advised Racing Victoria stewards " his stable accepted for Jade Marauder in the Schweppes Thousand Guineas at Caulfield this Wednesday in error" and she was withdrawn from the race.
The Shane Nichols-trained Meditrina now secures a start and will jump from barrier six with Steven King in the saddle.
Jade Marauder has gone to the paddock for a spell.

I cant see how you could possibly say that after in the Autumn when Manighar was low flying after winning the Australian Cup, Ranvet and BMW, he was absolutely spanked by MJ in the Queen Elizabeth. Now i know she's better in Sydney, and i'm not even saying Manighar wouldn't have won the CP, but to think he was a certainty and say he would have won it in second gear is absolutely ridiculous. Stupid. Sound like a mug punter still bitter that the horse has been scratched.

P.S. I cant stand Waterhouse, don't think i am a MJ lover i cant stand the horse.

That race she won was ran 5 seconds slower then the track record, that is 30 lengths or so. She proved she had a better sprint then him which is obvious given she's a shorter distance horse. Her only other start over 1600m was in the cox plate in which she tried to do the same thing and failed.

Its not Sydney vs Melbourne you should be comparing but the tracks themselves and in the case of last week Handicap vs WFA. MV is a lot tougher track then Randwick as the records show:

1000m - 1.3 seconds slower
1200m - 0.9 " "
1600m - 1.6 " "

The rest of the distances don't match but you get the idea, I wouldn't be counting on MJ running out a strong Cox Plate, if anything she will be there to lead out Pierro.

P.S I don't bet before the day of a race so I could care less about who is scratched.
