Starting 18's

Ok, i am a little bored BUT i have 2 questions

What is our BEST starting line up, in your eyes. I expect to see many different line ups, but just something to talk about.
So in this I mean, if EVERY player was at their best, well as good as they can be now(ie, Roo as good as he could be for a 30+ year old, not him at 22)who would get in

Secondly, what is our best FUTURE starting line up.
What would you expect the side to look like in coming years(say 3-4 years from now) naring trading and drafting.

Anyway, I'll give it a go, but this is off the top of my head, i may miss a few deserving players

Now, 3 of the 4 bench warmers in the future side are really midfielders(i guess chambers May be able to play elsewhere possibly), is that good, i don't think so. We will obviously have a few changes to the list, but otherwise, the starting 18 for the future isn't bad, but the bench will need some beefing up with some other positional players I think.

I like both of your sides EKA, but the same problem exists in both of them. No forward line.

In the current side Wilson and Siera are hardly stars, while McDougall and Hansen are un-proven in the future side.

That's why I'm so eager for Gardy to take one of the key forward positions. But it all depends on whether Cox, Gaspar or Seaby can hold their own in the ruck.

I like the midfield and the backline in the future side, but again McDougall still has a Looong way to go.

One thing i want to point out, Haynes is going to be a great Half Forward Flank, so most say, I don't think he would be terribly great in the Forward Pocket.
Also, Chad Fletcher is wasted on the HFF, He is a competent midfielder, 3rd in our B&F this year. I think he should either play on the ball, or on the wing.
Thats my opinion, and i expect us all to have different views, but those two are two i really think should play where i have suggested.

I just want to ask, is the guy who came 3rd in our B&F this year not good enough for a spot on the team?(Fletcher i mean)

This is a hard one because we don't know how a lot of players are going to have developed or recovered by season start. If we had done this last year who would have picked Kerr as a star player?
If we are to develop players for future glory then it is critical that this years line ups gives plenty of playing time to those players. Of course if we get belted every week it does nothing for confidence, which is critical. The also needs to be a few older heads around to pass on the club culture and show experience. So here is my pre~pre~season line up :-

Bench from :-
Cox, Banfield, Hunter, Williams, Green, Roo, Carrol, Judd, Embley, Mc Dougall, Munro, Wooden, Morrisson, Fletcher, Chambers, Taylor.


Large bench but they all need to be given a go, particularly in pre-season games to see how they have shaped up. Rotation of the bench is also a key consideration so having two midfielders, a ruckman and cover for either Milli or Jako going crook is important. So Cox stands out, Banfield and either Fletcher or Wooden or Judd for the midfiield rotation and with Gaspar up forward in the team it gives room to have him as defensive cover and throw a utility in a the fourth bench member. Maybe Embley or Williams or Hunter.

Remove Taylor and Carroll and throw in Rowan Jones and Peter Matera....im hoping you just forgot these two player rather than omitting them!

Um, it is a tough one, but i really believe Fletch has earnt a spot, at least last season he did. As yet Embly isn't going great guns, maybe Fletch in instead of him. Fletch can play Forward or Midfield.

Yes, i did actually forget them....

I still think Taylor should be included in the side as well though

Yeah your right i would rather Fletch than Embly.
