22JUL23: Fremantle vs Swans Match Reports
Here we go:

I don't have much time for Champion Data. I also don't love Gulden's short kicking. I feel that the standard 20-30 metre pass has become a bit of a tricky one these days as players tend to stab at the ball. Think I commented in the game day thread a few weeks back that the "low, hard bullet" pass that used to be so desirable has now become kinda easy for opposition teams to set up for and cut off.

I also reckon part of what makes Gulden a strong kick is his vision. He kinda knows where to place the ball for his target to run into that space. That's why he's so damaging kicking inside 50. But shorter field kicks you often can't find the space to place it into, you have to just get it on a stationary target's chest. Bit of a different skill.

At least that's how I see it.

People who don't have much time for statistical analysis are just people who don't understand how to read and interpret the data. Everyone inevitably comes around.

After these comments I watched a bit last night and Errol got picked off on a short pass out of defence. He was sweated on. Peripheral vision maybe?

His short kicks are also usually under a lot of pressure which tends to result in more turnovers. When he has more time he's usually running to the 50 and launching it in so has more time to pinpoint a pass. Still exceptional that he is so good at longer kicks.

The Weekend wash up analysis OR as I prefer to call it - the Day the meed-ya remembered Swans & Freo played a game on the weekend.

I love McInerney so much. He perfectly toes that line between trying to portray swagger and also being in on the joke that his teammates think he's a massive pest. And he bounces off these guys like Blakey and Warner who have a bit of figjam about them really well.

We spent most of the year playing teams back into form.

Now we’re playing them into crisis.

And an immediate improvement on our list during contention period.

Thinking future first or this year's first.

We will keep the Hawks second.

Barrass is of huge value to us. Fills an immediate need and has 3-4 good years left in him plus whatever residuals we can get out of him.

Yup agreed 👍

Give up our first in a second for him.

Got to take a risk to get a flag, we have hit the draft for years now.
