Things may work out very nicely for the Adelaide Strikers if Tait is injured, performs poorly and Christian finds his way into the test team.

Its pretty clear Chuck didn't want to be in a position where we couldn't sign Pollard because we spent big bucks on Tait then have Tait injured / perform like someone with no match practice, then have people questioning the decision to sign a injured bowler who hasn't been bowling. He preferred to put his eggs in the Pollard basket, don't blame him either.

As for Christian, well that's just lucky, pretty sure we would have been wanting his signature.

It gave them a chance to chase others, time will tell.

I hate this competition already. it all feels very plastic.

I looked into it. I'd picked the homebush team (I dunno which is which ), the one I'm most likely to go and watch. once I got past all the blinding colors of the big bash uniforms, I couldn't help but notice what a shithouse team they were. then I looked a bit broader, and realised that all the teams were shithouse.

where did this hype come from? as a launceston kid in Canberra, did I really lose my tigers for this?

I think everyone is about to be really disappointed...

Yeah I don't know that the whole "franchise" thing has really worked. The cities with one team have largely just taken the state squad, added 1-2 internationals and a couple of fringe players. For the Melourne and Sydney teams, I actually think they are at a distinct disadvantage.

Anyway, will be interesting to see how it goes.

That's more related to the staff imo. the Wa, Sa and Qld teams have the same coaches for this as they do for uh the real stuff. I think that's a restriction of sorts in terms of picking your squad will be. You don't wanna burn bridges or anything so you're probably playing it a bit safe. Tassie on the other hand have picked their assistant coach to be the BigBash coach and there's a few more changes to the squad.

If you look at NSW, they prevented their coaches from joining a BigBash team, but the SCG Sixers coach is Trevor Bayliss and the GM is Stuart Clark...and every Aus player in that squad has been a NSW contracted player at one stage.

As you guys have probably figured out, my main interest in this is the distribution of players. And yeah I agree that it's been pretty disappointing how 'safe' everyone has been playing it, apart from the Sydney Thunder, who I find the most interesting team.

Yeh I don't get why they decreased the markets in the one team states. Sure most people will go for their capital cities but you will still lose some by dropping the state name, especially in our case with such a small market to start with. Agree on the Melbourne and Sydney teams too. I wonder if a better rivalry couldn't of been created by have a Sydney and Melbourne team and then teams based out of say Geelong and Newcastle that also might play at 1 or 2 other more regional locations. With the playing it safe, I would of loved to see all the local players just put into a draft and really mix it up.
