I can see where you're coming from, but picking someone who has a career ODI average of 23 is hardly "incompetent".60% of what Tait bowls would honestly embarrass a 3rd grade park bowler.
You have to wonder about the incompetency of the people that select him.

In hindsight Dirk Nannes, who bowled as accurately as I've ever seen him, this summer, would have been a better choice, as would Harris and McKay (in those conditions) but they weren't available.
Tait reminds me of AFL footballers that have no idea how to kick a ball.
How do you get to the top of your sport when you have some clearly fundamental flaws?
Way too wayward. He isn't even that fast these days, not going to worry good batsmen with him pace, haven't seen him bowl a good wicket taking bowl for a while. Needs to learn to bowl a decent length and line consistently.
and yet he picked up sachin tendulkar when he was set and looked for all the world like he was going to make a big ton. go figure
Even Travis Cloke manages to get it through the big sticks every now and again.
The only way Tait could ever work is if we have 2 bowlers that are consistent, Johnson and Lee aren't that. It's no surprise how effective our attack was in the 07 WC with Bracken, McGrath and Tait. Sadly we can't afford that luxury now so Tait is too much of a risk to have in the side.
You mean the bowler who holds Australian records for most wickets in a domestic FC season, most wickets in a domestic limited overs match, broke the previous World Cup record for wickets and has excellent ODI figures?Tait reminds me of AFL footballers that have no idea how to kick a ball.
