The two inclusions are obvious surprises - I wonder how much of this is Lyon blowing smoke (much to Sheahan's chagrin, no doubt...). It'd be great if they both played though.

Collingwood will be a full on assignment.

While I love the inclusions, both have question marks as to whether they can run out a full match.

The squad is getting quite fit now. They are starting to rack up a few games in a row together. They merely need to maintain the motivation or desire and they should beat Collingwood.

The negative is that the last two matches (whilst stirring wins) were wins high on the shoulders of devotion to Rob Harvey. They need to keep it going. This is a test of Ross Lyons motivational skills as much as it is a contest against another finals contender.

In the wet at the G, a fully fit Thommo may be a better option than a half-fit Kosi. Thommo loves the G, and loves the ball being on the deck.

100% agree Rix's should Ruck most of the day smashing into Fraser, why risk Kosi? Thomo should be a cert if this rain continues

Hey Sainters... just want to say how great it is to see Goose Maguire back in the team.

Star player who will help you guys even more now that you are hitting your straps. From what I've seen on the Footy Show he seems like an awesome bloke as well.

Good luck to him. :thumbsu:

What was Maguire's injury and how long has he been out for?

Injured foot since round 1. Not sure if it was related to the leg break, but I do not think so.

I think Kosi will play deep in the forward line. Thye would not risk his hammy if in doubt and he has played enough matches to be match fit.

I hope goose goes well, but think another week off may have been ideal. I wonder what would have happened if Max was available...?

Having said that, it is now or never time for the finals, so let's have a crack.

I got the impression that Kosi's hammy wasn't your typical three (or with his luck, six) week injury. It was just a twinge. He saw out the game against West Coast, and I suspect they figured he was worth taking a precautionary approach with when we were playing the bottom team. If we were playing Melbourne this week, neither of them would be playing, I reckon - they'd be saved up until 110%. Having said that, Lyon himself has said something like "if I was a betting man, I wouldn't put money on Kosi to play - he's a 1% chance..."

I think it's madness to drop Thommo, but I don't think we can be as cute about our ruck as we tried to be with Richmond. One B-Grade ruckman (sorry, but that's what Rixy is) is not what you take into a game against Collingwood. That's the reason why bringing Kosi back is just so darn tempting... which says a heck of a lot about what Lyon thinks of Brooks, and where Van Rheenan is at (Brooks could play like Carl Ditterich for the next six games at Casey, and it wouldn't matter - he will never play for St Kilda again...).
