Didn't they remove the cricket pitch and chuck $10,000 worth of up grades into the ground for the match?

I think I read that somewhere.

Bruci, this the Adelaide Football CLUB section, hence why I want what is best for the AFC. Its great you love your SANFL club, but this is not the SANFL section.

Do you think the Melbourne clubs have this issue, can you imagine someone on Essendon or Collingwood site saying "I don't want to watch our reserves on TV - why won't someone think of children Port Melbourne, Sandringham etc".

We really are a franchise club until we rid ourselves of this mentality. It is the AFC first and foremost every time - bugger anyone or anything else.

Would prefer Tex's first game was not a night game ......will hate it if the surface is dewy and players slip with their footing

Good way to do damage

However, Glenelg oval is the best suburban ground for playing surface. The SACA got that up to scratch fir the cricket.

So it's the best ground to play at. Outside Adelaide oval of course.

what happened to Richmond oval ....thought with the AFL upgrade it was the best SANFL oval now?

Considering Glenelgs recent form theres a good chance of being an avalanche of delivery into the crows forward line. You would think the boys will be picking out Walker as much as possible. Even if Tex is at 30% of his best, he could still kick a big bag. Will be interesting to watch.

Glenelg were not that bad last week vs South Adelaide. They only had 1 terrible game and that was against port.

to be honest, these days when I hear something like "$10,000 worth of upgrades" it only sounds like enough to repaint the goal posts and a couple of benches

The Port game was terrible, but they were ordinary against Sturt and South. That 0-3 is an accurate tale of their season to date.

All true but anyone thinking we could win by over 100 tonight could be disappointed. We should win by only by 5 to 8 goals I think.

They were not that bad.

Glenelg are trash but I have no idea how good/bad the Crows Reserves are so the margin is hard to predict. Make no mistake though, Glenelg are trash.

Also if Tex gets through tonight okay then he should start against Melbourne, sub him at half time regardless of what's happening. We shouldn't even think about the idea of losing to Melbourne and I'd rather Tex play at Our Oval instead of some potentially dodgy country one.

The ground has a concrete cricket pitch in the middle!

Now... so does probably half the metro/country football grounds in the state but I don't like it one bit. Sure, they have moved on from the traditional 10 tons of sand and now have grass and these special rubber ball-bearing things to cover up concrete strip which are much better but it is still that for removed from AFL standard it's not funny.

I saw the ground a month or so ago and it was very average. Now, that's not to say that a month of TLC, some warm autumn weather and a bit of rain hasn't got it looking a million bucks but I would put money on Tex not playing in Clare next week.

There is no way in the world a SANFL game would be played on a ground with a concrete cricket pitch.

It has already. I remember watching a Sturt game in Murray Bridge that had one covered in sand!

Clare Oval has a concrete cricket pitch.

Unless it has been removed in the last few weeks (which it may have I guess but I doubt it).
