i actually think that a turning point was at 1/4 time when he was moved off Hodge.
during the 1st 1/4 Hodge was not a major factor while he was on Rooke, but as well know
was a major factor after that.
pity because i had money on Rooke 4 the Norm Smith.

Rooke was a good player, not a great player. He was the reason I think Geelong won the GF in 2009.

But as for being one of the toughest ..................... lets get real here folks, yes he was tough, but he played in a very sanitised era of the game. Go back and watch how the game was played in the 60's, 70's and 80's to see how tough it was then. The game has changed, and of course it is still tough, but more in terms of commitment to the contest rather than having to front up to actual intentional physical assaults that used to happen.

If you want to see what tough is, Dermie 1989 GF, Dipper, same game, what they endured to get their club over the line, now that was tough.

Excellent clubman and decent player but that's about it. That's where the calls of overrated come from. When people treat excellent clubmen like they are excellent AFL players.

In all reality, he's no better then the likes of Beau Waters. Both are tough, uncompromising and courageous players who have played massive roles in a Grand Final.
