seriously, why does everyone go on about freos forward line, its no better than any other, its full off names other than pav...
farmer if not suspended may pull out a few games, headlands good games are few and far between and dont even get me started on how crap tarrant is..............
all massive names at there old clubs, but doing as the dockers do best have turned them into duds..

hawthorn and saints are the two best.

Agreed completely, about Freo anyway. Their players are simply not very good. It really is that simple. Peake? My Lord.....

the best forward line wears blue and white hoops.

has chapman, johnson and mooney for a start. Chapman is surprisingly underrated at times, he is a freaken gun in this comp.

Hawkins could be anything and then they have so many players who can bob up in the forward line from their midfield, plus they work together well and are unselfish.

you cant class tarrant as a good forward he doesnt get near it.

I might be biased but the best hf line in the comp is

chapman mooney s johnson

followed by

stokes hawkins ablett

mooney isnt that great imo,
i would rather davey lucas mcphee

your call

i think mooney is one of the harder working forwards in the comp and he involves his team mates in the game. Id be happy to have him on my side ahead of mcphee or davey. Lucas is probably slightly ahead.

Fremantle

HF: Peake - Pavlich - Headland

F: Farmer - Tarrant - Solomon

St Kilda

HF: X. Clarke - Riewoldt - Harvey

F: Milne - Koschitzke - Gehrig
Nah, wouldnt have either of those two for the best 2 forward lines. Fremantle's is downright average. Pavlich is the only gun there. Solomon is serviceable. Headland isnt interested. Farmer is enigmatic.
Decent forward line for the Saints. Kozzie and Riewoldt are stars. Clarke has showed promise but hasnt gone on with it. Milne is mediocre. Tough to see what level Gehrig is at. Should be able to kick 40+ goals this year.

Hawthorn have a very potent forward line led by Franklin. Rioli, Williams, Roughead, Boyle etc=plenty of options
Essendons is quite strong. Lloyd and Lucas are stars. Davey puts on enormous pressure along with Jetta. McPhee and Lovett Murray are good players. Both presented well on Monday and are set for big years. With Lucas going down a spot is freed up for Neagle or Gumbleton to come is and assert themselves. One of them will be in the team soon no doubt after they get themselves match fit. Loses its aura somewhat with Lucas gone, but still one of the better forward lines going around.

Ebert Westhoff Rodan
S Burgoyne Tredrea Motlop

Theres over 200 goals worth last year, and i'd still only rate us a distant second to Geelong. Once the other sides can consistentally score as high as these two teams, the debate needs to end here.

They might look good on paper, but in performance they are very average.

Hawthorn and Geelong according to consistency across the board and output have the best forward lines. They convert their talent into success on field you see.

Since when have Hawthorn converted their talent into success?? You must be kidding...North very underrated....again

mooney is crap very over rated

what do you base that on?

wont go down as the best ever but right now is performing at an elite level and plays with so much heart.

Average forward line.

Average forward line.

Wtf? You have one of the best CHF's of the last decade, one of the best players in the comp, an AA forward pocket, last years best recruit, and one of the rising starts in the competition. Not to mention a player, that when on his game, can be increadibly damaging. It's above average. There are no duds in there (cough).

Tredrea is past it. Sad to see him struggling last year. Missed his game last week. Dominated at CHF for years, but his time is almost up. Rodan was a good recruit, but only received attention because he was delisted the year before, and from Richmond at that! Westoff looks good, but is still inconsistent. I remember his embarrassing GF performance vividly. Shaun Burgoyne is classy. Motlop can do freakish things and thats about it. Average forward line. Around 6-9th.

Collingwood's is better than both of those forwardlines as was evident on the weekend.

Far out people overrate the Hawks forward line. It has potential and is bound to be good this year and for coming years, but it is hardly the best

Roughead -> Averages a massive 1 goal and 4 marks a game, hardly impressive for the FF of the best forward line in the comp. The kids good and he is going to improve, but he is far from a force atm. (Avg. of 1.8 goals in 2007, and a miserable 9 disposals a game... next)
Franklin -> Tick
Rioli -> Yeah okay, one game and the kid constitutes 1/6th of the best forward line in the game? What a load of sh*t, especially seeings his one game was against Melbourne. I don't think any player would be worried coming upon against Cyril at this stage in his career
Boyle -> Who? Will be lucky to hold his spot for the year let alone be considered as part of the best forward line in the comp. An average player in every sense of the word

Williams -> Hasn't kicked a goal for nearly a year now, coming back from a knee, I would hardly expect him to set the world on fire yet. Shouldn't even be put into the discussion seeings he isn't even playing at this stage

Dew -> ZOMG HE KICKED GOALS AGAINST MELBOURNE!!! Seriously, the fact he is even named in there is reason enough not to be rated the best forward line in the league.

Some people need a reality check, seriously. This isn't a potential thread or a thread that should include 1 player who played his first game last week, 1 who played his first game back from retirement on the w.e and 1 who hasn't played for a year and isn't even playing atm (not sure if he'll play this weekend).

It's nothing in comparison to something like this;

HFF: Selwood - Mooney - Chapman
FF: Stokes - Hawkins - S.Johnson

Immensely superior

If the ball came down a little cleaner that dockers forward line would be sensational. But otherwise it struggles.
Will be interesting to see how Chris Mayne slots in.

Dockers forwardline is massively overrated and many of their forwards are the most unreliable inconsitent players in the comp. ie Tarrant, Farmer, Headland etc... Some have well and truelly past their best.

Was this put on for comedy value, it's probably the worst forward line in the league!

Half forwards – Richard Hadley, Adam Hartlett, Andrew Carrazzo
Forwards – Eddie Betts, Brendan Fevola, Setanta O’hAilpin

Look a little closer to home big fella

Oh god! It looks even more pathetic on paper. They are so far away from success that if Carlton fans were to go into acoma for an extended period they wouldnt be missing anything special. Pathetic rabble. When will they come to the realisation that an atrocious losing culture and the no. 1 pick isnt going to bring about recovery to the fledgling club.

definitely the lucas-lloyd combination, however the essendon crumbing options haven't had a chance to be proven. davey certainly looks the goods however, with him firing and maybe a third tall they could be unstoppable.

unfortunately with lucas gone, essendon's depth will be tested. i mean, courtney johns and gumbleton? eww

Tell me, would you consider Travis Cloke a force in any forward line?

Ofcourse you would. Yet despite the fact that Roughead kicked more goals than Cloke in 07, he's still 'hardly impressive'.

Oh that's right, Cloke supposedly does more 'around the ground'.

Remind me again what is the primary objective of any forward?

is not the best by a long shot, but would ohailpin play forward that often?

maybe put waite in there and looks a bit better, kruezer soon perhaps?

Tredrea's preseason has been mean, his game last weekend was as good as he has played for 2 years, discount him at your own peril. Rodan kicked 28 goals last year and averaged 4 tackles per game, more competant than most of the players people are picking to round out their forward six. Westhoff kicked 34 goals in 16 AFL games last year, inconsistent as he may be for a string bean in his first afl season was a standout, 3rd in the rising star award. Motlop kicked 44 goals from 18 games, so i guess his freakish things include kicking bags of goals regularly. Ebert kicked 56 goals as well to point in prove, going with Burgoynes 39 that our average forward line doesn't rely on shutting down 1 barometer. 232 goals to be exact is what this combination kicked between themselves last year, we must have the most attacking, exciting brand of football played in the last century happening at the moment if thats only the 6-9th best forward line going around. Get over your lloyd, Lucas love and accept the fact the forward 6 revolves around 6 players these days, not 2.
