I've always hated the "I wouldn't bring [player A] in, don't think he's ready," line. I think it's absolute bullshit. It's exactly how you f*cking tell what a kid's going to be worth. They need that AFL taste to know what to get ready for.
You don't go into the AFL superstar. You go into the AFL as a nobody and then once you taste it, you know what you need to do to get ready. You feel the strength difference, the speed difference, the skill difference. As soon as you hit 18 you are ready to play AFL. You probably aren't ready to hold your spot but you are ready to get your gameday touch so you know what is needed of you.
