Hey just wondering what everyones top 5 postive things to come out of 2007 were, and then the top 5 negatives...

Positives:
- Nick Malceski
- Adam Goodes second half of the year
- Ed Barlow
- Craig Bolton
- Being able to vent on BigFooty

Negatives:
- Barry Hall (untouchable at no.1 biggest disapointment of the year)
- Adam Goodes first half of the season
- Umpires
- Heath Grundy (showed something in his debut last season but did nothing this year, will never be a defender)
- Losing our fighting spirit
- this list could go on and on for the negatives but i said 5, so i guess i have to stay with 5.

forgot to put injuries in the negatives, but as i said, the are just so many!!!

ahwell, better luck next year

positives
1. Nick Malceski
2. Goodesy's second half of the season performances
3. Win against Hawks
4. Always next year:thumbsu:

Negatives
1. Not playing well in the big games

Agree with everything you have said.

Just want to add Tim Schmidt in to the Positives, thought he was very good in the games he played through the middle of the year, could be the class we need through the midfield. Hope to see him cement a spot next year.

Also want to add our slow starts to the negatives. We've been so poor in the first halves for nearly all our games this year. There have only been a handfull of games which we have controlled for four quarters.

Positives
1. Malceski - superb
2. Debutants - we saw quite a few this year
3. B2
4. Goodes
5. Geelong game at KP - gave me hope

Negatives
1. Injuries
2. Night games
3. Not enough games to debutants
4. Getting beaten thrice by Pies - lost all hope
5. The big hole at the SCG

My top 5 positives are:

1: Nick Malceski
2: Adam Goodes
3: Eddie Barlow
4: Our good form at the SCG
5: Craig Bolton holding our backline together almost on his own.

My top 5 negatives are:

1: Umpires
2: Barry Hall's indifferent season
3: Reliance on too few players to peform each week
4: Younger players such as Laidlaw and Moore not given more game time
5: Luke Vogels: I expected so much from him but failed to deliver sadly.

Good call on Schmidt. He really took a step forward this year and would also love to see him cement a postion in the midfield. He has alot of poise and can kick goals. He kicked 11 goals 4 behinds for the season. :thumbsu:

Ill start with the lows..

1. Inconsistant performances
2. Injury
3. Not enough action taken by coach/selection commitee, to reward in form reserve players. Continuesly picking players on past performances.
4. Playing players who were underdone, not given enough time to recover.
5. Midfield & FWD line, coaching issues there.. Longmire should have stayed as Fwd coach, Blakey middle perhaps, dont know..

The good..

1. Nick (the main man) Malceski
2. Craig Bolton, thank you cobber, you are a star, and i hope they give you the pay rise, not that w***er Jolly.
3. Even though we had the worst season in a while, we still never got flogged..
4. The rise of Schmidt & Barlow, to a lesser extent Laidlaw, the one game he played agaist the Cats was tremendous, very unlucky not to get a recall.
5. Adam Brownlow Goodes, if hes not captain next year ill spew.. and lets go back to one captain..

+ve

1. Still very competetive and top 8 after core group had limited preseason after long stint
2. Some very close games lost that could have easily meant top 4
3. Most elevations from Ressies were excellent Barlow Laidlaw Schmidt Jack all showed they have what it takes to make it
4. C Bolton, N Malceski, T Kennelly (lesser extent Leo) showed again that undersize can be compensated somewhat with brilliance AND ... eventually Goodesy showed again he is indeed a worthy dual medalist
5. They get to have a full September rest and recovery... and less pressure next year with most expecting them to fall away

-ve

1. Injuries cost and lack of depth cost
2. Hands in the back.... Leo B and B Hall have to practice practice practice to change their games ( MOL seemed to cope well with adjusting later in season
3. Disappointed that Reg Grundy did not step up
4. Blakey did not seem to manage the forwardline well... ROK Davis and others were not used as effectively
5. NEED for quality tall back and a powerful FF exposed

Bring on the youngsters they have got to be given every chance

(Disagree poster snappy above^, I think Kirk still better captain than almost any in the comp):) Where do all the carrots come from when you spew?:D
