Damien Barrett reckons Travis Varcoe is being shopped around.

Personally I've never really rated him. Average disposal. But if he was cheap..

Overrated for mine as well, wonder if his myspace page from 2007 would count against him in the 'no dickheads' policy?

Fyfe is a little better that hartlett maybe I don't see a massive gap

Narr pretty big gap IMO, lets see what Hamish can do next year and then we can compare apples

Matt White had a decent year and we're not recruiting him to be a star, just a 15-30 ranked type player on our list with a unique trait. He's also tracking an upward curve atm.

Your argument on wasting list space on them as opposed to picking up a "hidden gem" late in the draft is ridiculous. Maybe you don't know what hidden means. It means you can't see them. You don't know which kid with flaws/alot to work on will come good in the future. That's the point.

So we'll try for a "hidden gem" in the draft with our third pick and rookie spots, and fill a couple more spots with matt white/maguane/polec/monfries/whoever types. And in the future when the time is right, hopefullly a Hardwick/Dale Thomas/Dal Santo type.

Of course I had no idea what hidden means, thanks for explaining.

Josh MAHONEY just stated that pick 2 in the draft is up for grabs, who would you realistically cough up for pick 2?

Nuh, Fyfe hugely higher value.

Not being a dick, but an actual question. With Hill being the main man to be tagged at Freo, does Fyfe get tagged often enough?

Hartlett and Boak shared most of the load in terms of tags for us this year (Wingard helped towards the end).

Listening to Josh Mahoney then, Melbourne are very likely to give up pick 2.

I'm not saying we should, but would there be any player on our list that we could package with #13 to get ourselves #2 that we would be willing to let go.

And would #2 be worth the hassle if it doesn't get us Tom Boyd.

At the moment Hamish packaged with our first pick wouldn't get us pick 2. Melbourne would demand Wingard or Wines and that ain't happenin'.

Trading hard for an elite player or to fill a need I understand but trading good players for top draft picks is fraught with danger. It sounds like something that Freo circa 2002 would do.

Has it ever paid off for a club?

the only reason I would give up hartlett for pick 2 would be over the concerns with is shoulder. but I certainly wouldn't be giving anything extra apart from pick 2. there is no guarantee that aish would be better than hartlett.

I don't know how often Fyfe is tagged but it would be a turd of a job as he plays quite tall but motors all over the place, I rate him highly except for his goal kicking at the big dance.

Hamish will come good and he'll come good at Port. Right now his trade value would be comparatively low anyway due to his history of injury and inconsistently. Besides, trading away a club leader and highly popular player in the group with his ability would be fraught with danger.

The Hitchcock rule?
