Not sure why Carlton are even mentioned here. Pretty irrelevant at the moment. Well, they have been for quite a while now and I don't see that changing in 2019.
What? you wouldn't swap your midfield for Cripps, an aging and average Murphy and a heap of unproven kids?

Crows midfield is too one paced. Sloane is the only one with a bit of speed and x factor though he's not that quick.

I totally conceed that 'if' is a word that, at times, when it comes to actual real world consequences, it may as well have zero meaning

But if the Crows are going to threaten the comp and get back to 2017, it'll be on the back of Brad Crouch getting full fitness and hitting near what he has always had the potential to do

I suspect I get to see Oliver live more than you.

I've been following the Dees since the 1970s and Oliver is the best midfielder I've seen in Melbourne in that time. Daylight second. And I love Viney, who's unquestionably our spiritual leader.

Not including Flower, as wingmen were different in those days.
I really rate Jack.

Also think Christian has the greatest potential to be the best player in your team.

Petracca has some amazing qualities as a player, but he doesn't have Oliver's footy instincts or brain.

Do me a favour. When you watch Oliver next pay attention to how often he enters a contest at speed. I've never seen another player like it. Most players decelerate when they start getting close to a contest, he accelerates.

Obviously I am biased, but still, I challenge anyone to find me a better starting 6 than Grundy, Pendles, Sidebottom, Treloar, Adams and Beams.

Treloar is arguably our 6th best player in the middle of the ground, that should tell you a fair bit about our depth. This is leaving out players like De Goey, Phillips, Stephenson and Sier who will be pushing for more midfield minutes in 2019.

I'm sorry I just don't really see how its a debate but I'm willing to discuss it if someone disagrees.

Adams ...

Adams ...
Won Best Finals Player for a team that lost the GF by under a goal and came second in the competition for the Gary Ayres medal behind Sidebottom.

Again, even if you are going to rate that player as the 6th best mid on our team (which he isn't), name be a better 6th midfielder on any team in the competition.

Also, seemed to do fine when he had 36 disposals and 9 inside 50's against Richmond in the Prelim...

Over Martin, Cotchin and Prestia?

Gibbs, Sloane & M. Crouch:
4 x Best & Fairests
2 x All Australian

Martin, Cotchin & Prestia
2 x Brownlow Medals
1 x Norm Smith
3 x Premierships
2 x AFLCA Player of the year
4 x All Australian
5 x Best & Fairests
1 x Leigh Matthews Trophy

The Richmond trio are way more decorated despite being vastly younger. You’re having a laugh.
Nah, I'd still rather the Adelaide trio for 2019. I also don't pick players based on previous accolades. That'd be very illogical.

Based on what? You’re yet to provide anything remotely convincing that suggests the Adelaide trio will be better than the Richmond trio in 2019. I’m going off the mere fact the Richmond trio have thoroughly outperformed the Adelaide trio up until this point, while all you’re doing is making a baseless prediction that goes strongly against recent history and exposed form.

Do you see where I said "I'd" - as in, my opinion. I think they'd be better. Get over it.

The same sidebottom who was unsighted in the GF I assume. But glad to hear you won YOUR grand final in the prelim, colliwobble mentality

I’m fine thanks. I just wanted to know if you could provide a solid argument as to why you hold this opinion, but you can’t. No need to get all sensitive when you’re challenged on your “gut feel” predictions.

Yeah but you have to base your opinion on something, simple logic

Okay -

Matt Crouch is better than Prestia (Alot better - 3rd for disposals per game in the league)
Sloane is better than Cotchin.
Martin is better than Gibbs but plays forward for a third of the game (Doesn't help the midfield)

As a midfield they are better, that crows line up is better.

haha sensitive. Good one.

TBF, they really only thoroughly outperformed them in the GF (yes I know). But lets face it, Adelaide have pulled Richmonds pants a number a times over the last few years

I didn’t mean H2H, I meant overall careers. I would rank them at present:
1. Martin
2. Cotchin
3. Sloane
4. M. Crouch
5. Gibbs
6. Prestia

Not sure how anyone could argue against that.

I'll give you Crouch > Prestia. Martin is the best of the lot by far. Sloane not better than Cotchin, if anything it's a draw. With the new 666 bs, Martin will likely be getting more mid time cause we'll have riewoldt and lunch fwd with caddy and the smalls

Fair enough. Gibbs is a hard one for me. It'll be interesting to see how and where he plays this year. He pretty much held our midfield together in the earlier half of last year when everything was falling apart around him

Good player and agree. He was very good last season.
