I have to say the Port fans were absolutely disgraceful last night, to say the least. First incident was after the game, me and a few mates were at the game, and I was with my intellectially disabled brother. As he likes to do, he was cheering after the game and waved his flag as we were walked back to the car, only to be approached from behind from a group of 3 Power fans claiming they would "Rip your ********ing head off" As you would do when defending a sibling or any family member for that matter, I turned around and told him to ease up and why to do so. The reply I got was something I don't want to get into detail over here, but it was directed at my brother and very, very low and cowardly. The second incident was when a little old lady asked a Port fan if he could sit down because she couldn't see the game, the man turned around (in front of his kid) and told the lady to "shove it" A feeling of hopelessness obviously came across the women so she sat back almost in tears. The last incident came when I stood up and cheered, only to be pulled back down in my seat by a feral Port fan behind me saying "Crows stink" Now I thought nothing of it and the next goal Crows kicked I stood up again and cheered, only to be pulled down again and punched in the back of the head. By this point my mates and I were in complete disgust, talking back to this guy. He got up, told me to ******** off and barrack for a better team, and walked off. All those incidents are completly disgraceful. I feel sorry for all the families with young kids who can't go to a match without hearing or witnessing abuse. Honestly, I didn't see one Crows fan doing anything wrong. Those particular Port fans, hang your heads in shame.

I'm not saying there wasn't a feral Crows fan last night. In my area there was no Crows fans doing anything out of line. Don't get me wrong Paralowiepower, there probably were Crows supporters doing stupid things, not in my area though, so don't you roll your eyes at me

As I say, I have been to nearly all of them. Port are always noisier. Port supporters, in fact, are nearly always angrier about everything.. even their own players. The myth is that Adelaide supporters are too quiet at AAMI Stadium. I don't subscribe to that. Adelaide supporters think, feel and have a wider and deeper range of emotions than most Port supporters. If our team is losing, we starting telling stories in the outer, start making jokes, start making ourselves laugh a little in our misery. We reach for our thermos and pass biscuits up and down the aisles... or we talk about the cricket or something.

When Port suppoorters are watching their tream losing, they boo, hiss, sneer, complain, whinge, lash themsleves with whips. They make damn sure their entire night is a complete negative experience. They forget, of course, that they paid good monmey to be there. They forget how to make football an enjoybale experience, win loss or draw.

An amazing example of the difference between Port and Crows fans, showing that Port fans are there to actually watch the football, while Crows fans are just there for something to do on weekends.

Maybe for next year we can persuade the AFL to introduce a 'Stereotype Round'.

All us Port supporters can wear Ripples, tight jeans, read a copy of 'Picture Magazine' at the game, start fights and abuse you lot.

All you Crows supporters can sip your chardonnay and listen to ABC-FM on your headphones to drown out our uncouth behavior.

And had some great Power fans next to us that didn't cause any trouble, congratulated us on a good win in an entertaining game and were the ones that got the red coat's attention on the other incident.

Then encountered some embarrasing Crows fans going out of their way to get in the face of every Power supporter that walked past on the way out of the ground to make sure they knew exactly who won the game. Totally unnecessary and wouldn't have blamed any of the Port supporters if they'd gave them plenty back. And I'm sure it wasn't the only incident in which Crows people were acting like monkeys.

Every club has good and bad supporters, it's a fact of footy.

I and my wife were very surprised how many mixed families we saw. Even a Port dad taking his crow son, when all we hear is the kids growing up as Port supporters.

As the title suggests, this really isnt a big deal so I thought Id slip it in.
What did every1 think about the Power boys walking off the ground b4 the presentation. Just thought, that after the Geelong Bulldogs match this year that maybe some people would have an opinion.

Yes that's very sad isn't it & off course the AFC have never ever done such a thing like walking off before a presentation have they after a showdown loss?

It ranks right up their with a team winning & the winning club's song not be playing over the loud speaker or don't you remember the first ever showdown, now that would have to be one of the most unsportsman like things that has ever been done in an afl game. Don't say that they didn't have the song because Port beat Geelong the week before & the song was played after the win, to not play someone's club song after they win really was pathetic, but then i guess that when you mock another teams song after you beat them in a grand final win i guess that's to be expected.

Haven't they had it that the medal has been presented to the best player in the changerooms the last few times?

Do you know the one thing i have noticed sitting in the members is that quite a lot of AFC fans only will start cheering when they're absolutely positive know that they're going to win the game. Last night it happenend & last year when we played a night game against your team it happened.


Bold text refers to what you would call the lame brain supporters as this kind of baiting is usually the only thing you need to start with the wrong person & then it's all in & usually an innocent bystander will be the one who gets king hit. They are normally the type of supporters who when they lose will look to start trouble as well.


Also sat with a few AFC supporters at the game & some of them said to me it's good to have a bit of competition in the cheering/support of your team, which i throughly enjoyed throughout the night. I have possibly made a few more friends after last night so i can't complain, our team put up a great effort last night & if it wasn't for a couple of simple/silly errors we would have won but i guess it wasn't to be. Let's just hope that we can make the finals & meet again because you know that we'll give your mob another run for it's money.

I'm an Adelaide supporter and I've been to every Showdown, both home and away.

In fact, I go to every AAMI match. My girlfriend is a Port supporter and I like football and her enough to enjoy even Port games in her company.

So I go with her to her games and, most times, quietly barrack for the visitors... unless, of course, I lay a bet on a Port margin. Over the last few years, I have had great success backing Port wins and getting the margin right. Thus, in the last ten miuntes of the game, Port supprters go YESS!!! with each goal and I do too, because that goal gets me into the margin and I am close to winning good money.

Perverse? You betcha. It's been the only way to make those Port games tolerable. And strangely, I've had more success backing Port than my own team.

Except this year of course.

My girlfriend comes to the Adelaide home Showdown and sits amongst my Adelaide friends on an extra season ticket that I have bought and make sure that it is available for her for this one game. She makes a great racket and I often tell her to shut up, because she is a respected guest for the day.

At her Port Showdowns, I lay my bets, and sit and watch quietly. I respect the fact that this is her home game. I do not get up and scream loudly everytime Adelaide kicks a goal. Maybe you think I should, but I don't.

I sit quietly and watch the game. Under my breath occasionally, I might say, YES! YES! YES! but I am conscious of the fact that every little thing I will celebrate will be extreme pain for her and vice a versa.

In fact, the quieter I can be, as Adelaide wins or loses these games, the more enjoyment I have and the longer our relationship will continue.

When you say that you got off everytime Adelaide kicked a goal last night, no wonder the people around you hated you.

At the Adelaide showdowns, those Port supporters who stand up and make a big noise at each moment of gain, also get themselves hated by the solid Adelaide core who have been sitting there enjoying their team in the outer with their season tickets, not only for that whole season, but sometimes for five or ten years before that match.

It's a comfort zone, I guess. You go to the footy every fortnight and enjoy losses and wins... and then suddenly, for the biggest match of the year, there is some big ugly thug in front of you, wearing the opposing colours, screaming hatred and bile against your own people, totally destroying one of the highlights of your expensive season ticket.

My point here is to respect the home town crowd and their right to enjoy their game.This is the nature of our two team SA competition. If you attend an away Showdown, let them have their big night out. Don't goad the opposition. Sit and enjoy the game quietly. Especially if you are winning.

As, for example, tonight, when after an honourable seven point loss, deeply undermanned, they slunk off to their bunker, before the medals were presented. And they werfe the hosts of this event!

That was disgraceful, actually. Somebody had to run down the players' race into the Port bunker and extract S Burgoyne so that he could come back to mother earth and receive his medal for being joint BOG. Where was the grace in that?

But, on the other hand, as I say, there is little grace in Adelaide supporters jumping up triumphantly with every Adelaide goal, rubbing our host's nose into the backside of their misery. Don't do that next time.

Just sit quietly in your seat and enter the name of your goalkicker and the time of the goal into your budget. And whether it was a 10 metre, 30 metre or 55 metre goal.

At those Port home games, I find it incredibly useful to have a radio with earplugs tuned into ABCFM classical music.

At Adelaide home showdowns? Of course, make as much noise as you want. Go completely mad. And, if there is a feral rogue stray Port supporter in your midst, rubbing his or her every little moment of success in your face, please try as hard as you can to not think that he or she is deliberately trying to provoke you into actions which you may later regret.

I had some shocking crows supporters around me. It's not just us. There were also many crows supporters in plain clothes who only took their scarves out 20 seconds before the final siren.

Funny how you manage to always see things that others dont; But still even it they did (Which I seriously doubt) they went home happy.

I know every club has them but Port just have more of them. They are one of a kind. I went and saw Essendon play both Port and Adelaide this season and there was not a problem with crows fans except the odd 2 or 3 but at the Port game the abuse was disgraceful and so nasty. At least the crows fans sort of make it in jest whereas the neanderthals from Port are full on serious and nasty. Was there last night and was funny to see the idiots who were so vocal and abusive early on, slink out of the stadium at the end, not a peep from them!

Good call, Port supporters like to be portaited as angels, we have some good ones on hear that continually make up stories to belittle the Crows; yet when actual evidence about their behaviour appears they get all defence.

I took my dad to the only pre-season showdown the teams had & when rehny did his knee (what is it with crows, ruckman and knees ) the ferals couldnt be more delighted even if they tried - even as a lions fan i thought that was below the belt!!!!

I remember that night well, they claim they only have a small element of ferals, that night proved to me that they seem to have more than just a handful. That was one of the most pathetic things I have ever seen at any sporting event, you almost feel embarressment for them.

Okay so me and my mates like being vocal at the footy, however we never swear or anything as I wouldnt want my kids to be exposed to that and whatnot, and we NEVER have cracks at individual supporters, never anything personal.

However me and my mates were hit with so much abuse, and full on swearing, especially when I stood up everytime Thommo kicked a goal in that second quarter and was going off. Three guys behind us were calling us "Fing tossers all night", one other guy "We're gonna knock you off like dominos after the game", and one woman told my mate she would knock his teeth out. And of course these same people were cheering when Huddo was injured and calling him soft etc. This went on throughout the game, people grabbing my guernsey and pulling it back and ********.

I have been to games all over Australia and seen every team play at least twice over this time, and I have to say tonight was the worst I have ever seen, full stop. And what was with those flares after the game???

Don't get me wrong I'm lapping up the win, but just wanted to get this off my chest, meh.

Some Port supporters tonight were a disgrace, an absolute disgrace. Key word being 'some' Port boys, we had some lovely people behind us and were chatting and so on but man some were shocking.

There was a group of 5 or 6 young adults (late teens) drinking from a coke bottle - and it wasn't coke - of that I am sure. Anyway from the second they came blazing down the isle screaming 'Were gonna kill those f*cking assholes' at the top of there lungs, I knew I was in for a long night. They had this sign they had made and it really seemed to amuse them. They were rude, crude and vile for most of the night and it got worse as the coke bottle emptied. Had to laugh though. They had a sign that said Crows, No Heritage, No Respect. After the game Brent Reilly saw the sign, pointed at the scoreboard and laughed. As did all the Crows supporters who had gathered around the race.

They are really a different breed though. Each club has them but Collingwood and Port have more than there fair share.

Sorry to tell you this mate but for the first ever Showdown I would have been 11 so no my memory probably wasnt that good!!
And playing the song has nothing to do with the players. Unless one is expected to turn on the C.D player or something. I would have thought that something like that would be the responsibility of the AAMI staff. I wouldnt be too proud of the Crows if they walked off nor, would I if it were any other team!

they love the fact that we "scramble" for heritage but they are so caught up in their magpie related world, they need to understand that the power is a completely different entity from the magpies and that they are just from the same area!


I was right in front of where hudson went down and I thought it was bloody awful for the port supporters to be jeering and yelling at him when we were so close...so when he got stretchered off I stood up, clapped him off then said "at least you're better than primus" and then I got told to "go back to minda" and also to "get a haircut"...which I thought was funny, seeing as though at least I have hair to get cut! such idiots seriously
