The Port supporters out did themselves last night, the lack of footy knowledge from the ones around us was absolutely amazing.

A bloke in the next bay even had a Crow on a stick which was meant to be dead of course. I mean really. I was expecting to see one of them march in with a coffin as they did in 1997 in the first Showdown. They live in the past. Thats how the dig up so much 'Port Heritage'. Has anybody mentioned the flare that was let off from the Port Cheersquad? Must have had it down there pants to get in cause they were checking bags. Fools.

You know, we too have our own experiences of utterly offensive, boorish, and obscene Crows supporters at last night's game. Do you hear us whinging?

Grow up and get that ridiculous chip off your collective shoulder.

BTW. The flare you speak of was thrown from the upper deck of the Northern Stand, coincidently where hordes of your supporters were. But hey, don't let the facts get in the way of a perfectly good lie.

Hey Finbarr.....I said that all clubs have bad supporters....we do too....no doubting that - you just have more of them. Also, if you don't like what we say about you on OUR board then head back to the Port board.

Yes, week in , week out, go check the Port board.

Gee';s I never ever though I would hear a Port supporter telling anyone else to get the chip off their shoulder. That is pretty amusing stuff.

In the great Port Adelaide tradition of bending the truth huh?

How to we respond to that? take flat batteries to the next showdown on sticks? :p

Good call, Port supporters like to be portaited as angels, we have some good ones on hear that continually make up stories to belittle the Crows; yet when actual evidence about their behaviour appears they get all defence.

I'm not sure hot to take this comment as if you're suggesting i made it up about the elderly lady being assaulted in the toilets earlier this year but if you would like to meet her & she can tell you what happened, I'm sure i could arrange something & she sits near someone i know on the outer. As for the young girl's flag being deliberately lit on fire well ask anybody here who listens to the KG & Cornesy show as it was mentioned after that game.

I have never said that all Port supporters are angels it's only the small minority who will tarnish the image of a lot of our excellent & well behaved supporters. You also have said that the Port supporters around you lacked knowledge of the game last night, perhaps you should have tried to edgeucate them with your superior knowledge of football and i can guess the response that you would've got in return. :D

Also for the record where i was sitting in the members (undercover) around the 50m line towards the new scoreboard end & their was no trouble at all, unless you call a little harmless banter trouble. :)

Sorry to tell you this mate but for the first ever Showdown I would have been 11 so no my memory probably wasnt that good!!
And playing the song has nothing to do with the players. Unless one is expected to turn on the C.D player or something. I would have thought that something like that would be the responsibility of the AAMI staff. I wouldnt be too proud of the Crows if they walked off nor, would I if it were any other team!

Speaking of songs, I noticed, and it was mentioned to me that the volume of the crows song was really low last night (when the players first came out) Was that the doing of the PAFC me thinks not!! :)
:)

I never noticed the volume turned down when the players first came running out unless the announcer said something over the top of your club song.

The AFC have walked off a few times before the presentation in the first few years when they presented the medal out on the field, but i thought that they presented the medal to the player in the change rooms as that's what they have been doing the last few times i've been to the showdown games.

Were the Port players told to stay out on the ground for the presentation?
I think that Mark Williams said in his press conference that they weren't told that they had to stay out on the ground & that was good enough for Neil C.

If that was the case then it is an honest mistake no probs. I just thought it was a little strange that was all. Anyway. I prefer them presenting the trophy etc. on the ground. That way the supporters are allowed the oppurtunity to see the presentation. Anh hey, if just about every third game played in Vic gets a trophy etc. and all that hullabaloo then why not the Showdwns. :)

I wasnt refering to you specifically ; but should you wish to take it like that , so be it. I thought the Port supporters like to make note to the rest of Australia that the Crows have the monopoly on Elderly Ladies at the footy; obviously they are mistaken. As for the assult in the toilets I really cant say much on that, I dont normally go into the female toilets but I would envisage that sort of incident normally has two sides. The girl being deliberately set alight, well I have not heard of that , and it is the first mention on here about it ; would be interesting to see if that actually happened or if it is the next in the line of "make believe" incidents that seem to flow from your clubs supporters.

The group of Females that showed the least knowledge around us were to drunk to be edgeucated; but they left a lasting impression on alot of people around the area.

Mountain out of a mole hill, there is nothing worse that losing a game and being forced to watch the opposition collect the spoils. I'd be sure the Port players would have been gutted after last night, like their supporters and would have wanted to get of the arena asap.

I've only been to 2 Port home game showdowns and they are by far the 2 worse experiences I've ever had at footy games.

I lived in Melbourne for 3 years and went to virtually every game the Crows played there and never had a problem with opposition supporters.

At Port games I have not only felt uncomfortable, but unsafe. At a Port v Collingwood my faince were sitting very quietly but everyone was yelling abuse at us cause my fiance was wearing a Pies scarfe. We ended up moving seats and she put her scarfe away.

I know it's only a minority of supporters but in my experience it is definitely a lot more noticeable with Port supporters than any other team.

How pointless is this type of thread really ....

A few crows supporters get on saying how port supporters are the most feral and have more feral supporters.

The a few port supporters get on and say how crows supporters are the most feral.

Then we have a few supporters from each side getting on and citing examples of how a feral supporter from the other side swore .... or spat or threw a bottle or cheered to loud or whatever.....

Then of course the obligatory few people from either side of the fence getting on and embelishing stories to make the opponent look worse.

Just remind me of the time the Crows stayed on the field for the presentation in the first three or four years before it got moved inside? Yet when we walk off its a terrible thing

Macca19 - the presentations were moved inside by the afl after the very first one as West End sponsored the trophy and the medal and the afl did not want to upset cub as their major sponsor. This year the trophy and the medal were presented on the ground again as there is 'no sponsorship'. It was announced during the game on sat night that the presentations would take place on the ground and at the start of the year port stayed on the ground for showdown 17 - why did the crows receive the information that they were to stay on the ground for the presentations at this one but port did not?

Ah, and both sides are living up the the lyrics of their respective songs arn't they?

had a nice giggle before the game as the power had the words to their song up on the scoreboard!

and then they only played the first half of our club song over the speakers before just stopping it and putting an advert on instead.

I really hope that this post is a joke. You hold a season ticket for someone for only one match of the season?

I'm sorry but you are a disgrace and an embarrassment to the Adelaide FC and it's supporters.
No, read the post - he has two season tickets and takes different guests to the games; his girlfriend gets the ticket for Showdowns.

I am in the same situation and my son, who is a Port supporter (albeit not a particularly passionate one) gets first dibs on the Showdown.

I don't consider myself to be a "disgrace" and neither is JohnK. Get off your high horse.

Do you know the one thing i have noticed sitting in the members is that quite a lot of AFC fans only will start cheering when they're absolutely positive know that they're going to win the game. Last night it happenend & last year when we played a night game against your team it happened.

Funny, 2 swampys at work with season tickets didn't go on Saturday night because they were certain they were going to lose.

That's the true Port adelaide supporter. Frontrunners. They would all barrack for Glenelg if the bays had a bag full of premierships.
