List Mgmt. Morning, Joe! (was The Daniher (Probably Mega-)thread)

We let Hanley go for a future first which ended up being pick 12 in the end, traded for Cameron.

Let Rockliff go for a end of first round pick compensation pick, drafted Brandon Starcevich.

Let Schache go, combined the pick 25 we got with our own second, drafted Zac Bailey (pick 15).

If Dodo wants to match, that's his prerogative and he's well within his rights to. We could've held any of those players or forced them into the draft, yet we would've been a worse team for it.

Talk about illustrate my point!!
Hanley - got you pick a first rounder (pick 12)
Rockliff = end of 1st round
Schache - pick 25
And you reckon Daniher is worth a pick in the 20s?

If he had been fit and firing like in his 2017 year and contracted then obviously he would be worth more but he hasn't been and he isn't. There are plenty of reasons why he isn't worth what you think he is:
1. Uncontracted - Uncontracted always pays less, always.
2. Broken down - Played what 10 games in the last 3 years? Decent chance that he might never regain those 2017 heights, we play less due to the risk.
3. Wants out - Categorically wants out 2 years in a row, absolutly no chance that you keep him.Would crucify your culture, more than it already has been.
4. Other players - Saad, Dunkley, Caldwell and Fantasia all have to be done. Get the pick and do the other deals. Can't afford to piss around.

Tom Rockliff was one of our best players at the time that he left and probably one of our highest paid players.
We were not happy with end of first round compo but the club accepted it.

Hanley we got a first round because we traded him when he was contracted, which increases his value (likewise Schache).

[Troy McClure voice] You may remember this from such trade periods as Sydney's offer for Daniher last trade period.

Rockliff's reported contract is higher than Daniher's reported contracted. So yes, I think Daniher is worth whatever the compensation pick system designated he's worth.

Yes.. glad everyone can agree on something. If you look at the history of FA compo then Daniher around 20 is right in the ball park.

Hopefully Noble has a better vision for the club than the supporter group, if this forum is indicative.
Talk about looking a gift horse in the mouth.
You finish a close and competitive 4th with a young team and key forwards who aren't getting the job done.
Into your lap falls the once in a lifetime opportunity to get a talent like Daniher, 26yo, and seemingly fully recovered from injuries that have hampered him for 3yrs.
And, best of all, you can have him for nothing. Zilch. A free agent.
The only hitch to this fairy tale opportunity is if you can't get past the "restricted" bit of the RFA.
All you need to do is to "risk" a bit of incentive salary by guaranteeing it, or if you are really conservative, giving him a higher guaranteed salary for a lesser term.
But no, you're worried about the gift horse's teeth.
He's free!!! Do you understand the meaning of the word?
No one is asking you to give up a raft of draft picks, and, anyway, all you have is picks that will be in the 20s, which, if you are really lucky, might get you a couple of fairly good half back flankers after a few years' development. Have you had a look at who you might draft this year with those picks?
It's Daniher for god's sake. You've got nothing like him. He's fit. He's keen.
Holy moley. Is it that hard to see?

If Daniher had no injury issues, then of course the club wouldn't have issues paying for the band 1. However, Noble isn't silly enough to offer that amount for a player who has only played 8-9 games in the last 3 years. Could you imagine how poorly it would reflect on the club if we signed him for a significantly larger contract only for him not to get up?

If I promise to text Noble with your thoughts, will you stop trying to convince us to do something we have no control over?

I think it's important that we reach agreement here, and then, we can go to Noble and Dodoro with a fait accompli.
At least that would enable Dodoro to get on with all those other trades that you all seem to be worried about him having enough time to focus on.

You really are unbelievable...
A few posts back you said you were fine to lose him for nothing. Fast forward a few posts and it’s our ‘once in a lifetime opportunity?’

You sound like a used car salesmen. Top of the line, 100% healthy 2nd hand key forward with no strings attached. All you have to do is sign on the dotted line and pay the large but fair one time fee.

Ben Brown is potentially going to Melbourne for an early 20s pick. Jessie Hogan is being shopped around for a late first rd pick with no takers. Jon Patton went to the Hawks last year for a 3rd rd pick from memory. Essendon fans should come back to reality. Joe is worth a late 1st rd pick... the contract on offer by us supports this.

If I was Brisbane I'd just tell Essendon to either accept the end of 1st rd compo pick and use that during trade period to help get a player in or accept whatever pick we have left to offer at the end of trade period (maybe pick 19 or 20 if we haven't used it by then) and miss out on the opportunity to use it to help you get player in.
