Exactly my point. They got carried away with almost winning a Preliminary Final for somethings sake.

I was disapointed after the GF but proud. Collingwood fans were humble in defeat, we said all along the better team won.

I don't know one Collingwood who is content with living on the GF performance. With boosted our squad with a quality player and we know every team is even on the ladder atm.

This was a foreign concept to Hawthorn fans last year.
just like Collingwood did this year in the GF. That's nothing really to write home about Rohan.

But for trading Croad, we received one of the best young player's in the country. It wasnt arrogance, it was a decision made by the match committee. I am pleased with it. Hodge is an absolute gun and he is far more committed than Croad ever was.

So what if we were disappointed over the Prelim, we are supporters, we are allowed to be. Some supporters handle it diffferently to others.

As I said Rohan, get off your high horse and let football clubs say what they please within their own boundaries. If you choose to take it out of context just to be a complete d[ckhead and show the world what a big man you are then go ahead. Dont turn it into a bagging thread just for the hell of it.

If Collingwood were so humble in defeat why did the supporters keep ringing the sport talkback shows with regard to the Rocca goal? It must have gone on for a week. Even my friends who are Collingwood supporters were embarrassed by their fellow supporters "carry - on".

Thats a fair whack. I agree by the way. You can't rest on your laurels ... thats why our clubs are where they are at. You just want to hope Collingwood can go on with it.

They have a realistic chance to take the next step and win a premiership. You just have to hope that simply 'making' a Grand Final isn't enough for your players. Yes, admit the better side won on the day, but don't for a second be satisfied. I think Hawthorn were satisfied cos ... they tried their best and would have won if they wuzzen't robbed! :o

Geelong are the same..havent won anything since 1963 and they have nerve to attack Hawthorn. I think i would rather be known as a Pretty Boy team than a Handbag team.

Took the words right out of my mouth. Rohan and Catman make an excellent team!

I think Nathan's Norm Smith Medal speech summed it up for our attitude on making the Grand Final. The pain of defeat will motivate the players to go further.

Geelong are the same..

Kind of sums Hawthorn to a tee. Hawthorn benchmark their performances against Geelong.

Collingwood historically benchmark against Carlton and Essendon.

I meant the same as Collingwood - both have done nothing for a while, but they are attacking Hawthorn for one year of underachieving

Funny how you benchmark yourselves with Carlton and Essendon. You have won one premiership since 1958.

Bit slow today, eh? I mean, normally when someone mentions the word 'soft', you or Hitman or McChawk are in here quick as a flash to bag Geelong. It took you almost three whole pages of posts today. What's the matter, standards slipping?

We thought we would give you guys a sporting chance

Hawthorns biggest problem is they have a side full of inconsistent players.
The type of players that will have more off days than on days.
So the tradning of Croad meant that though they lost merely another inconsistent player they also lost a another gun.
By that I mean his versatility and the fact he commanded respect from other sides meant he recieved the top defenders.
Holland became the main inconsistent foward and recieved the top defender and was usually double teamed.

Another of the problems was Hay... this guy in my books is the best player on there books you take him out of the equation and the hawks are nothing special.
Any side that looses there best player will never fire.
Aka Carlton

So we are therefore, Inconsistent - slighty different to soft

The main problem, I think, with Hawthorn is you have too many receivers of the ball. Shane Crawford can get 30 touches a game and, on a good day, lay a few tackles too but it's rare to see him score a hard ball get. A lot of your other players are like that.

Don't get me wrong. I think every successful side needs one or two players who can get on the end of a handpass and do some damage. Problem is you need a few guys who can scrounge the damn thing up in the first place, and that's what Hawthorn lack. Trading away your last two semi-tough guys in Croad and Chick was a dumb move too.

The Hawks have a fair bit of talent and will perform well against sides like Geelong who lack the experience to make them pay for being a bunch of hovering vultures, but you will get shown up badly against teams like Port and Brisbane.

Bit unfair on Crawf. He is a tough nuggety little bloke, who does the hard yards. Actually Shane can be accused of being too unselfish at times. He is not a receiver and shouldnt be accused of being one. He gets in and under and is one of the few players who does.

If you want a receiver then check out Buckley.

Other than that, i cant really despute what you have written.

Corad was a non-committed footy player who had no idea. he put money first and became too big for his boots. But we got a fantastic player named Luke Hodge who is going to be a star.

Chick, we had no choice because he wanted to go home. So that one couldnt be helped.

The best footy I've seen Shane Crawford play is bursting through the middle, getting on the end of a handball and kicking inside 50. I guess you've seen more of him though.
