Hooper got Basil in the throat , nearly destroyed his larynx . Speaking of Basil's , Basil Campbell of South Freo was a human wrecking ball , also remember when the supposedly soft Graham Moss destroyed Ron Boucher , Boucher was never his bullying self again after that .
Basil got his comeuppance at Lathlain when Robbie Lawrence got him, fairly sure that as a result of that blow he was forced to wear the bulbous helmet for the rest of his career.

Campbell Brown, backing into a pack to spoil a ball in front of an Adelaide forward pack, made him, The hawks got inspired and went on to win the game, while Brown sat on the bench with a busted shoulder blade

You guys have obviously never heard of Neil Sachse, who ended up a quadraplegic after his collision with Fitzroy's Kevin O'Keefe in 1975.

You took the words out of my mouth. Correct if I am wrong but this would have to be the biggest life altering bump in the history of the VFL/AFL.

Surprised noone has mentioned Tom Lonergan. From wikipedia:

On 26 August 2006, Lonergan suffered serious internal injury to his kidney whilst playing in a Round 21 draw against Melbourne - which was also just his seventh AFL-level match.[3] Lonergan's kidney was severely damaged when he backed into a marking contest against Melbourne's Brad Miller.[3]
Lonergan was immediately hospitalised, taken to the Geelong Hospital and had been in a stable condition before his blood pressure rose overnight,[4] forcing him to undergo trauma surgery to remove his right kidney.[3] His kidney was found to be badly lacerated and bruised, which was accentuated by the scar tissue caused by a previous footballing injury he had suffered as a 16-year-old.[3] During the six-hour procedure, Lonergan's entire blood supply had to be replaced three times, flushing it through with up to 40 units of blood,[5] placing him into an induced coma.[3][6] Lonergan remained in a coma for four days, with it taking six hours to bring him back to consciousness.[7] He also lost 17 kg during the ordeal.[8]

For sure. He'd already hurt the shoulder when he stood in front of Nigel Smart. I'm not sure that 'made him', as he already had showed great courage, but that endeared to every Hawthorn fan in an instant.

Good get.

Really turned himself around, after a shakey start, but at the same time, I'm not sure the "bump" was a defining factor. Maybe just a hinderance to his development if anything?

Brent Guerra on Byron Schammer at Subi when Guerra was playing for Port Adelaide.Tremendous sh@& mixer and Schammer never seemed to be the same again.

ablett on kristian bardsley. simon madden was it??- on gareth lyons.

Pretty sure Guerra was playing for the Saints at the time. Was a big bump and stuffed up his shoulder. He never really came back as a decent player, but think it was mainly to do with his disposal issues rather than any effects from the knock.

Voss ironed out a lightly framed outside player, who then became contested ball winning beast, Joel Corey. I always thought Corey knew he had to hit the weights after that and came back a much better player.
Henry Playfair was showing real improvement as a centre half forward, until he broke his jaw against Adelaide. He never played a good game, ever again. I reckon Max Rooke finished off Brad Johnson in the Prelim of 08 but he might have been on the way out then anyway. He really looked scared (should have been a free kick though).

Never have and probably never will despise a footballer like i did that POS.

alex rance seems to get knocked at least once a bloody month, doesn't seem to phaze him at all though

his are mostly from 50/50 contests along the ground or in marking contests though so it's all fair and square

i also remember ben cousins got a hip and shoulder from franklin, cousins was having a good game but as soon as he came onto the ground he looked like he was ready to murder someone, scored a goal from the boundary line within a minute or something
