@TomBrowne7
Neeld has just arrived back at demons hq. neeld drove straight past gate . Just gone into offices with Neil Craig and Todd Viney

Whatever the outcome, he was clearly delusional if he thought that was the standard 30m a month presentation.

They should make that hairy prick Garry face the media. No doubt he will get away from any criticism though.

If they sack him without having a proven & respected replacement, god help 'em.

They can't do that until the end of the season, unless they're out of a job. (Roos, Matthews). The length of the meeting suggests to me that this wasn't a pre-determined decision - whichever way it goes.

he'll just bunk out on footy classified and stay in his own littly bubble of cushy tv appearances and being a ungodly shit bloke

Would Melbourne have a press conference or release a statement to say that Neeld has not been sacked ?

In other words, would we expect Melbourne to confirm the outcome of the board meeting either way, or only to say something publicly if Neeld has been sacked ?

Or at least release some kind of coloured smoke once a decision has been made, like when they select the Pope.

Comment was made on SEN this morning, that Melbourne should be moving heaven and earth to get Stephen Wells over from Geelong, as his track record in untapping talent late in the draft has been phenomenal.

Just because you have draft picks 1, 2 4, 5 and 10 for instance, actually doesn't mean you will get the right talent for your club.

Melbourne would do well to follow the lead set by the likes of Essendon and Collingwood and going into VFL ranks and getting blokes that way.

Have a look at how many former Frankston players are now on AFL lists - or look at Sam Dwyer's cross from Port Melbourne to Collingwood.

Myles Sewell would look awesome in Melbourne's midfield next to Nathan Jones.

Still amazes me that no one has picked him up yet or given him a chance on the rookie list. Been close to the best VFL midfielder for a few years now!

Our drafting looks a lot better, I'll give Neeld that. He's had one real year of recruiting and we ended up with:

Hogan, Toumpas, Viney, Kent, M.Jones, Terlich, Barry

They all look pretty good so far, except Barry who we haven't seen much of. We also got Dawes, Pederson, Rodan, Byrnes, Gillies and I'd say only Dawes has really shown anything (but then surely we weren't expecting the others to be world beaters anyway, and we gave up basically nothing for them).
Remember how good Gysberts, Morton ext looked after a season?

I feel sorry for Neeld, the amount of criticism the guy has had to cop has been massive. I'm not sure if there is a point of return as the damage from the media and with fans is probably too great.

Something has to give though and the Dees need to start showing more. I think they need to move heaven and earth to get a strong, experienced coach to give a brutal appraisal of the list, cut the deadwood and play the young guys who are worth persisting with. I think going for experieneced players (Dawes, Clark, Brynes, Sellar, Rodan etc) is the right approach but obviously not all those guys have worked out.

I think a combination of experienced role players from other clubs plus mature agers from the state leagues should help them at least protecting the next generations of young kids into the team.

Some clubs will let their assistants go if they get a senior coaching position. Someone like Mark Williams might have it in a clause or a sort of gentlemans agreeemnt.
