Would listen to Darcy and BT commentate on loop for a thousand hours straight if I thought it would get us Fyfe.

When I'm not in denial is my favourite player in the AFL.

Along with O'Meara he is the main reason why I really want SOO.

At first I thought this thread was the world's worst trolling attempt. But the OP's dazzling use of statistics, and sheer persistence, have now convinced me, and I can't for the life of me imagine why we would wish to keep Nate. I'm calling Freo head office first thing tomorrow and demanding he be traded for some steak knives.
I know...maybe we should start booing him?

So he isn't perfect? Go figure.

Luckily for him and Freo, he is amazing in other areas of the game.

What's that! Another Fyfe random Geelong player clanger!

This 'disposal efficiency' stat is a joke. Every disposal has a special context, to reduce it to 'effective' and 'non-effective' is ridiculous.

A player can have 10 kicks and if two of them go straight to the opposition in the defensive 50 and result in a goal, they still have a disposal efficiency of 80%. Meanwhile, if a bloke wins a clearance and gets a quick kick forward to a contest and then his teammate loses the contest, it's considered an ineffective disposal.

Completely useless stat. You only need to actually watch the game to know that Fyfe is a gun.

Bingo.

Freo fans are ignoring one key point

You all cheered Rhys Palmers departure. Why

1. He cant kick

Here we have someone whose kicking is much much much worse and its irrelvant. Its the ol double standards. People here are saying the stat is meaningless. How come when Rhys Palmer is about to leave it all of a sudden has meaning?

It only has meaning to people on Bigfooty when it suits there argument. Nat Fyfe being overrated doesnt suit there argument so its a meanigless stat. When Rhys Palmer is leaving Freo for a compo pick they then drag the stat out and use that as a reason for why they are better off without him.

Its just double standards no matter how you want to define it
If you can't tell the difference between Palmer's kicking and Fyfe's without numbers you are beyond any help you are going to get here. Give up watching football, its obviously too complicated for you.
I reckon Darts would be your go, thats all about numbers.

Freo got Rhys Palmer for other reasons, despite the fact he was a crap kicker off his foot. Palmer had other decent attributes as well. He was a good inside mid and he actually could break the lines and run very quickly. There were reasons why he won the 2008 rising star award. He Did stand out from a crap and under-performing Freo team that year.

What made me angry at the time was Rhys Palmers compo pick was only a 3rd level compo pick and Freo got a late 1st round pick considering he has played 53 games in 4 years. Yet Phil Davis Played 18 games in 3 years and the Crows got a early to mid 1st round pick.

Oh and one last thing. Chris Masten was a horrible kick in his 1st 2 years at west coast as well.

Easily one of the most vluable players in the comp. Been a few mention his marking, which is incredible for a mid. What impresses me most is that he influences most of the contests he is involved in, either getting the ball himself or stopping the opposition from taking it away cleanly. To me he is a mix of James Hird and Scott Pendlebury. Would be in the first couple picked at pretty much every club.

Fyfe is a terrible kick. I see him spray kicks every time I watch him play.

And I think the OP is right that it never gets mentioned and people gloss over a pretty major flaw.

But he is still a very handy player and I would take him at the Tigers in a heartbeat. Elite marking and clearance ability. Tackles well and wins a lot of contested footy. Very good player.

As already mentioned by others, the disposal efficiency is inversely proportional to the contested possession stat. Only two others get more contested possession than Fyfe (Ablett, Kennedy).

The thing is that there is something about the Fremantle game plan that makes it hard to have a high disposal efficiency. Look a Danyle Pearce, who is an outside mid known for his kicking and he is only going at 62% efficiency this year. Last year playing for port he was going at over 68% efficiency.

I mean in general play though. And the OP says he goes at 40% from free kicks. Which negates the contested possession argument.

a factor effecting his efficiency is the fact we always have extra number(s) behind the ball. though granted he does blaze away at times. but i would think his positives outweigh his negatives. if he had not been suspended i think he would be a brownlow chance
