Polec reminds me a little of Butcher, has not been able to produce consistent footy due to injury but we all know he's better than what he's shown this year. What trade pick value is Butcher, knowing he has the potential to tear it up.

You're not some 17 y.o. new to the internet posting here, which is where I would expect to see that sort of analysis. So given you're normally well informed and (IMO) appropriately cynical where do you get your non-schlubness rating for Polec from?... Polec isn't some schlub being shopped around .....
Yes and no. For every Wingard there is a Jacobs..... The club has done well of late withtheretheir choices so i would go along with whatever they decide.
That Rob Kerr guy who basically said hes done more in a few weeks here than he did at Brisbane.Nope, disagree. Where do people get this poor work ethic from?

and everyone else cept his SANFL coach. (I wonder if the SANFL clubs get compo $$$$ when one of their players is drafted high?)
Wingard will develop into a great player, but if we had to make a call on his finals games he would be judged as very average but we all know he's a gun. I say let's give Polec the chance to prove he can really play the game.

It would be interesting to see if he would be such a priority if he was not from SA.I do not see the comparison between Wingard and Polec.
We are talking about the worth of a player in the system for 3 years that struggles to break into a side that finished below us this year.
To me the better comparison would be with Jacobs and what we got for him is about what Polec is worth with what he has shown.
People on this forum have gone a bit Polec crazy.
Take away the south aussie factor and he would not be worth a cold pie.![]()
That's the cynical (but realistic) perspective I'm after..... I'd be treating a lower first-round draft pick - just a pick - like it was the winning ticket in the home & land lottery.....
Much as Tambling is a continual source of amusement to me (and thank you to the footy gods who had the Cows actively seek him out) he was still a first 22 pick at Richmond until quite recently. So a Tambling v Polec sneer doesn't work, yet..... This isn't 25yo Richard Tambling who clearly isn't up to it .....
Still unicorns and rainbows I'm afraid. Just freshened up it seems..... Polec has weapons and is currently less than three drafts since he was initially unicorns, rainbows, where's the beef. He will be a snip ....

He is a lad I would give pick 14 for...Hope getting Mayes off Brisbane next year won't be so time consuming though![]()

I think people need to take a step back and realize that first rounder doesn't equal Oliver Wines or Chad Wingard. If we had a top ten pick, we wouldn't give it up. One, because Polec isn't worth a top ten pick, and two, because if we had a top ten pick, we'd have the second round pick to go with it that would satisfy Brisbane.
But let's be realistic here. There has to be some point where you stop hoarding first round picks and start thinking to yourself "This list, as it is right now, is good enough to challenge for a flag with a bit more development." Then a gift from the gods comes along in the shape of a former top 5 pick who nominates the club...and you're not willing to sacrifice a kid that may or may not fall to your pick for a guy who WILL burn it up next year? Polec would know this is his last chance. See the improvement in Cameron O'Shea? The talent was always there - it just need the right environment. Polec will be the same.
Rhode has one task - get the best deal he possibly can for our first round pick...which is to ensure that we have our first pick before Adelaide has theirs.
I just wish I could find away to automatically have these posts ignored

As one of the draft experts around these traps, how did you rate him 3 years ago?Interesting because I feel the same about any trade option that has us valueing Polec worth down grading our first round pick.
When Polec's name came up mid season I only valued him as a third round pick. at that point in time he has done little on the field to change that mindset and Brisbane obviously just dont rate him. Another year like 2013 at Brisbane would have seen him delisted at the end of 2014.
Hope getting Mayes off Brisbane next year won't be so time consuming though![]()
When you finish top you get f*** allWe won't have 14![]()

In Ken we trust.Look i know this thread is supposed to be Crow free as FF stipulated when he closed the first Polec thread "but" if you guys are having difficulty in making your collective minds up on whether or not you want this guy just pass on him.

Another AFL brainstorm.Who had the bright idea of turning trade week into trade 3 weeks?
