These freedoms, and only these freedoms.

Your freedom, to live you life, is irrelevant.
Yes, well, I guess for some people, the freedom to own a gun usurps the freedom of kids to go to school and not get shot by that gun. It's all about priorities. If a few kids have to die to protect my freedom, then that's the price I'm willing to pay. Not sure if they're willing to pay it but... muh freedom!!!

What will that be about? Freedom to own military-grade weapons? Freedom to fly swastika flags? Freedom to pollute the planet? Freedom to impose restrictions on reproductive rights of women?
Freedom to not be allowed to protest climate disasters?

As opposed to censorship. I don't agree with your point of view and you won't have the right to voice your view. Govern me harder daddy because I'm not responsible enough to make decisions for myself. I need the powers that be to enforce what is satisfactory content and what is not.

Yeah but let's bring in the ever so smart American chap to explain it all to us.

Martin Bryant endorses this point of view.

The US says Israel may have used American-supplied weapons in breach of international humanitarian law in some instances during the war in Gaza.
It is "reasonable to assess" that US-supplied arms have been used in ways "inconsistent" with Israel's obligations, says the state department.
But it added that the US government did not have "complete information" in its assessment.
The report was submitted to Congress on Friday after a delay.
The White House-ordered review looked into how the country, along with six others engaged in conflict, has used US-supplied arms since the start of last year.

Would have also broken the Leahy Law

Under the U.S. Leahy Laws, the government must disqualify any military or law enforcement unit from receiving assistance if there's credible information that the group had committed violations like rape or extrajudicial killings, unless the offending entity has taken adequate steps to punish the perpetrator.

This guy is a joke.

"Terror tunnels." "Gold standard."

Also, what's the freudian slip with "We have executed..." when talking about 13000 people. How many of those people did they summarily execute and designate as combatants afterward? Not as eye opening as when he differentiated between a "civilian combatant" and a "terrorist" tho.

At no point did he mention "civilians" just the difference between terrorists and civilian combatants. It certainly implies that Israel's government, who he is speaking for, sees all civilians as combatants and legit targets.

Lets pretty much every cat out of the bag, doesn't he?

And of course, it's entirely coincidental that Israel's 'spokespeople' are the whitest, most English private school accented 'Israeli's' they can lay hands on.

When you've got to defend your genocidal colonial project going pear-shaped, they no doubt thought it was a smart play to default to the same brand of 'gentlemen' who have been ever so reasonably rationalising this kind of thing for centuries and successfully getting enough of us to swallow it.

I know right.

Nothing racist about this whole situation at all.

It's become so overt in places like the UK and Germany (let alone the US) that it's seriously going to affect national elections.

I'm always staggered that our political masters in the West think they can actually get away with indoctrinating us at school on the sanctity of human rights, then expect that we'll somehow just turn a blind eye to the atrocities committed in our names, on the grounds that it's OK when it's in our (or Israel's etc.) national interest.

The hypocrisy going around is staggering.

Campuses in the US which memorialise the Vietnam protestors as heroes, allowing police to brutally beat their own students, turning the full apparatus of state violence (future reputational harm etc.) upon them with zero mercy shown.

Albo only gets half serious about taking Netanyahu to task in the lamest way imaginable AFTER the first white Australian dies.

We don't even have a single mainstream news outlet who will report that the reason the death toll in Gaza is permanently stuck at just over 30K is because they ceased to have any ability to count back in February. Long before that they weren't even close to keeping up - they have no buildings or electricity to even access records, let alone process new ones.

The true death toll is well over 100K and could well be as much as double that.

Maybe that's the biggest scandal in any of this - the deliberate suppression of just how many tens of thousands of bodies are being very deliberately hidden from the journalistic record when we talk about this genocide.
