Although I'm not a huge fan of some of the top ten songs I can see the merit in them all except for The Veronicas. What kind of person votes for that garbage?

There are a few answers to that.

Firstly, they (or someone) apparently ran a TikTok campaign. Nothing inherently wrong with that, plenty of artists do Hottest 100 campaigns, it's just a possible explanation.

Secondly, the biggest demographic for voting was 18-29s, a lot of whom probably grew up with the song in the same way I grew up with Cold Chisel - too young to hear the songs when they came out, but all over the radio as a kid.

And the song was genuinely huge at the time, so it's not a surprise that when you're scrolling though the list of songs you haven't necessarily heard for a while that might stick out.

Haha. It wouldn’t make my top 10,000 Australian favourite songs of all time, but I still like it better than Scar.

If you’d told me that a modern female pop hit was gonna come in at number three, I would’ve guessed Sia’s Chandelier instead. Pretty weird omission really, given it was a genuine global smash hit right when much of the voting demographic was growing up.

Some of those tobacco shops are forced to sell the vapes & under counter cigarettes and if they refuse then they burn them down, others get stuck between rivals and if they sell the oppos cigs then they get burned down and others are targeted against rival owned shops.

TBH none of this would be happening if the government didn’t tax cigarettes so much that people can’t afford them so they buy under the counter cigarettes.

Sorry I thought you meant that people can now get herb vapes, where before they couldn’t. I’m not a smoker.

It’s more convenient to just get normal herb, when my sister was dying I just used to get her a Q and roll them up for her. She didn’t have it in her to go the the process with the docs.

No. Its the opposite. Bloody stupid but that's how governments work I spose.

Oh that’s good for people who don’t have other options. Probably the best option if it’s that easy.

In my sisters situation she knew that I could just get it that day and it wouldn’t cost her anything (she was a battler). Anyway, it helped her.
