What a shock, Irish player bails out. I don't care if they're Cat B, the average ROI on Irish players is appalling.

I still reckon you'd have better odds of finding a 100 game player by cycling in an enthusiastic American 200cm+ hopeful every 2nd year.

Glass out of contract no interest elsewhere so club save him embarrassment of announcing delisting. He would have stayed if he could get a club

West Coast set to finish 2020 AFL season in financial red following diminished season

West Coast look set to end the 2020 football season in the financial red as the club pays the price of a delayed and diminished 2020 AFL season.
Accounts filed with federal authorities showed the Eagles were smashed and their contentious cash reserves were tested by the delayed start to the AFL season.
West Coast lost $14.29 million for the six months to April 30, a period that normally includes the successful club booking the earnings from the season’s opening games.

In the six months to April 30 last year, the club recorded a $1m profit, a good start to a 2019 season that generated more than $8 million of profit.
West Coast chief operating officer Richard Godfrey said the club was likely to have returned to modest profits after the season restarted on June 11 and then the Eagles enjoyed much of July and August at home.
But it would not be enough to offset the loss to April 30 and Mr Godfrey warned the club was likely to record a loss for its 2019-20 financial year, which ends on October 31.

“It’s obviously been pretty tough but we have had five games with maximum crowds of 30,000 and we have watched our costs closely,” Mr Godfrey said.
“We are in a much better position but still working through things and there is still uncertainty going into next year.”
A note to the filed accounts warned it was difficult to estimate the effects of the various government efforts to combat COVID-19.
“They will have an impact on our earnings, cashflow and financial position,” the note said.
The warnings come amid criticism of West Coast for being wealthy and spending $60 million on a lavish facility at Lathlain while WA football battled at the grassroots.

The financial accounts show West Coast entered its 2019-20 financial year in rude good health with more than $56 million of cash and investments.
Accounts filed this month showed cash and investments had surged to $67 million by April 30. But cash by then included more than $40 million of unearned income, including money from members’ pre-paid season tickets.
As the COVID-19 crisis settled towards the end of autumn, West Coast gave season ticket holders options including donating their membership fee, leaving it with the club to cover future ticket costs or asking for a refund.
Mr Godfrey said only about 60 people asked for a refund. The club still held about $20 million of members’ money that had not been earned as income.
“We have fantastic support from our sponsors and our members. It’s really been wonderful,” he said.

Wouldn't mind having a look at Riordan.

Maybe we need the a big American in case we get a dose of the luck of the Irish as well.
