AFL Club
Melbourne
To come out of this result just now, is that I hope the following occurs;

1. Every single Melbourne player watched that and feels as bad as their supporters.

2. Melbourne players realise what it takes to win a game to play finals like West Coast has.

3. The club makes some serious change for the better in 2018.

I think it's probably best for a lot of us to back off the Melbourne board for a while, and just focus on the finals and enjoy who does play.

Personally, I am gutted, I am so flat that we've missed on our first finals campaign on percentage, it's just wrong. We totally have ourselves to blame, and it's just so deflating right now.

I can't believe it. Look at Essendon, look at West Coast. Clubs with some ticker. This is just horrendous

Heartbreak can make or break teams. Knowing us we might as well start rebuilding.

It's laughable that you think we (the eagles) have some ticker. We've only played two games in the entire season like that. Against Geelong and this one against Adelaide. Games where we showed a bit of mongrel and aggression and looked as if we had some desperation.

We are easily a bottom 3 tackling team in the competition, both in terms of attempts to tackle as well as tackling form. Definitely a poor example.

I am just itching to see how we go about it next year. If this doesn't drive the club to success nothing will.
Disagree. Dissapointment drives nothing and our club is living proof.

Good players and good leaders drive success. Fix this list Melbourne or pay the consequences.

Where was Essendon's ticker when they played us? They barely limped over Fremantle today

Not a poor example at all. Can't believe you'd denigrate your own side after that. You had to win by more than 25 to play finals and you have, that takes some serious determination and desire.

In all honesty, we could have cruised into the finals had we consistently played in that manner. We dropped games against woeful sides like the Gold Coast Suns because we played half arsed. Doesnt take anything away from this amazing game.
But the team clearly picks and chooses when they want to play hard, heroics from players like Jetta and Darling doesnt change it. (both players are a perfect example of choosing when they play hard)

I mean in the sense of a motivational way, I strongly agree this club needs change. The positive is that we have a good core group. Some serious decisions need to happen in the off season, serious ones.

You stood up when it counted, and thats all the fans can ask for.

Commiserations Dees. Being a Pies supporter used to disappointment around finals time
For what it's worth your side is developing exceptionally well , and this result will no doubt drive the club to higher efforts next year. The structure of your playing group is amongst the most complete in the comp.
2019 will be a good year for the Dees. Grab a few frothies to dull the pain and good luck in 2018

Unfortunately you do. And you'll also have an opportunity next week to redeem the loss last year. Hopefully you guys take it, after all, Adelaide isn't that long a flight!

I doubt it. Mad Monday costumes already being planned I'd say. Its a paycheque for most of these players. What does someone like Jordan Lewis care if we make finals or not? Just an example. He's been here five minutes and has already shown that our club finds it acceptable for players to pick and choose when they try.

Well, yeah, I agree in so much that I hope it burns but that alone is not enough.

The positive for me is that we won games this year where we were up against it and our kids were the driving force. Our engine room could be dangerous. We just need some better ball users and some athletic talls who have set roles every week.
