We will end up IMO with a early pick and a player. Obvisouly the earlier the pick the crappier the player and Vice versa.

We cant get pick one we already have it and I hope we dont loose it. But I can see a very complicated Trade being organised, with trde picks being swapped players in three or even four way deals. It will be very interesting.

This is how I think we will play the trade period.

Miller and wallace have already decided what Ottens is worth. IMO 2 first rnd picks. something like 7- 10 or 3 and 16. If Brown was worth 7- 20 than ottens would be worth more.
So do we keep our picks or use one of the picks we get to off load to another club to get a reasonable player, Simmonds maybe? Or do we keep our picks and go all out youth???

I think we should go all out youth, instead off a band aid solution again. 1-4 -7-10 (For Ottens)-19- would make for exciting times at Tiger land.

Than we should get a player via the PSD.

We would have 4 first rnd picks pick 19 would get a handy player to. and we could recycle some delisted players at the end of the National Draft, for one year deals.

Lets face it next year will be tough, maybe the year after that as well. But it surely wont be as tough when we can sit down and watch the future getting better.

3 way deal.
Ottens to Geelong
Enright to Port
Carr to Fremantle,
Symonds to Tigers

If you follow me

Thats a 4 way :D

OK I'd be happy except we need a pick as well. pick 7 and Symonds.

But why not get 2 early picks for him and recruit youngsters

I like either of these scenarios...

Geelong: Gain - Ottens Lose - Tenace (Coll), Pick 16
Collingwood: Gain - Tenace Lose - Pick 7
Richmond: Gain - Picks 7, 16 Lose - Ottens

~or~

Geelong: Gain - Ottens, Pick 36 Lose - Tenace, Picks 16, 32
Richmond: Gain - Tenace, Picks 16, 32 Lose - Ottens, pick 36

Thoughts?

Still think Ottens is worth more than 7 and 16.

It would be good to get Tennace.

Tennace and pick 16 for Ottens its a done deal

If Brown was worth picks 7 and 20, there is no way Ottens is worth more than that. He's injury prone and definately not the player he was 2 years ago.

He is definately not worth TWO first rounders.

A pick between 10-14 and player is what he would be worth.

IMO , Miller will have his eye on the best two tradeable picks available, 5 and 6 ,and a player .

As the Bulldogs and Hawks don`t have to much cattle we would be interested in this means there has to be a third party bought into it , especially if Geelong want him .

I don`t see the cats wanting to trade any of thier top-liners so i think that the most realistic player we could get off them would be Bartel . Would be more than happy to get him to punt rd. and he has been trade bait before .

So to get either hawks pick 5 or bulldogs pick 6 , the cats will have to make a trade with either of those two clubs to secure one of those picks and then on trade that and Bartel for Ottens .

I think that would be a great scenario for us . Get either pick 5 -6 Greg , that would be fantastic

I doubt it now....the cats really rate bartel now [as they should, good skills hard at it]..would be nice but i doubt it..
lol at all of us trying to trade players like there footy cards..
Thank god we arnt all in charge ...could you imagine trade day...

hows bout pick 16 and one of Kelly, Bartel, Johnson or Tennis

If Richmond would be willing to accept the above, surely Geeloing would be willing to give up one of these players

Ummm....no.

Kelly = prime midfielder, potential brownlow medalist i years to come. Bartel prime mover. Johnson quality forward. Tenace pace Geelong need.

No way Geelong would get rid of any of those guys. Ottens is not worth those kinds of players. He is good but no superstar. These guys will be superstars.

Won't happen.

Just as you wouldn't trade Coughlan, neither will we trade the above.

They wont be getting any of those players and they wont be getting two first round draft selections.

Maximum we will give up is pick 16, pick 32 and a decent player (Wojcinski, Enright etc.)

If Richmond want more Ottens can stay at the Tigers, I can't see anyone else being desperate enough to give away two first round draft selections.

As a Geelong supporter I would say firstly the Tigers would be better off with Collingwood not being part of the deal in the first trade. Collingwood being the big winners in that trade. Tenace is worth more than pick 7. Geelong would not trade him for pick 7 and if they did Richmond would be better off just to get Tenace and 16 for Ottens. I still dont think its going to happen with Tenace.

The second trade you've got to be dreaming. 16, 32 and Tenace. There is more chance of a straight swap for Tenace. 16 is a possibility and 32 is no chance. I doubt Tenace will be traded tho but you have to give up talent to get talent.

That's the problem Geelong have at the moment, they have so many good young players they want to keep that it becomes hard to actually trade any of them. But as you say, someone is going to have to go.

Then Geelong will have to look somewhere else for a key foward wont they

If you think you can get him with late picks or a fringe player then watch him headed elsewhere. If Geelong aren't prepared to sacrifice then you'd be better off going after someone like Whitnall that is purely a forward and you might have a chance of getting him.

Fishman are you related to Mick Malthouse, because your a bit of a tightass you have to trade quality to get quality

No biggie. We can use our first pick to grab a ruckman, the second pick to get a forward, keep Tenace and Richmond can pay Ottens 500k and ******** away the best uncontracted player for someone that doesn't even want to play with you.

Pick 32 was being swapped with pick 36 from us...a mere sweetener...not taken off you outright.

And yeah, Tennace is worth much more than pick 7. He was taken with pick six last year! You better trade him with the Doggies instead for pick 6. :D

Seriously, what makes your "They may become superstars" arguement more meaningful than our "he might become a superstar" arguement? A 24 year, 200cm ruckman forward with good hands and good foot skills that has had ******** midfielders around him, and we can't get any compensation because they "MIGHT" become superstars and win Brownlows....Sheesh

Nah Coughlan, not related to Mick Malthouse.

But you are basing your trade thought around Geelong sacrificing important parts of Geelong's game plan to get Ottens.

Face reality coughlan.

They aint going to give up important players that got them to a prelim and two kicks away from a grand final for Ottens.

You guys should aim at draft picks to BUILD your club - no player you get is going to be able to do ANYTHING to get your club to the finals let alone a premiership. Both Geelong and St Kilda have shown how to build up a club.

Geelong was in exactly the same position a few years ago - now look where they are.
