WINOCOP, I get your point that the big bang theory hasn't been 'proven' (and personally I doubt that it or any other theory on the origins of life ever will be), but just because you don't know about or understand the difference between the level of evidence between that theory and Creationism, it doesn't mean that there isn't one.

we are getting way away from the point of none can be proven and depending on your beliefs none hold more water then the other....

Only to the extend that nothing about anything anywhere can be known... if you're going to get that epistemological about things then I think you're the one driving this discussion to absurd places.

If however you want to have a discussion about how people come to conclusions about their everyday experiences, then there are a whole ****load of very obvious difference between science and faith.

funny thing is the big bang theory was started by catholic priest....not a scientist...

If you're referring to Georges Lemaitre, he was a physicist as well as a priest. A physicist is a type of scientist.

Far out I dont want come of as a preacher but if you dont understand the level of evidence for creationism doesnt mean there isnt one..works both ways...

the big bang was created by a priest... a catholic priest....to which albert einstien scoffed at the theory

A book that has survived 2000 years the most powerful book in the world that controls billions of people something that stood the test of time ....something science has tried to disprove but cant...thats a start of evidence

Yeah ... no it's not.

Refer to the previous 'just because you don't understand the difference between the evidence, it doesn't mean there isn't one'. I'm not going to waste my time sitting here typing about the difference between scientists who actually test their theories to the limit of human capability and a book that some guys wrote thousands of years ago, making up stories fill the gaps between things we understood and things we didn't before we actually had the technology and capability to attempt to find actual answers to those questions. It should be self-evident. If it's not self-evident to you just based on common-sense, my effort attempting to explain it would be wasted anyway.

Also Lockhart Road probably a discussion best had via PM. I'm not comfortable with people's names being thrown around who have no idea they are being discussed here.
Sincere apologies Ford, temporarily went into a time warp. Should mention in this thread, Mr. Jamieson was the (unsuccessful) ALP candidate for the blue ribbon Liberal seat of Sturt in the '72 federal election so perhaps a few may have heard of him?

there are many things in the bible which are scientifically correct.

I dont fully believe in the bible and I dont fully believe in science...

I am of the belief science tries explain the how and the religious try to the why...

I am a pretty opened minded person and wont dismiss something totally

That's fine, in fact that's great. But paying more attention to empirically tested facts and theories over unsubstantiated stories doesn't stop you from being 'open-minded'.

Shulz let me get this straight...you want me to fully accept The big bang theory which applies that something was created from nothing a theory that goes against the laws of physics

...well shit that like tell me god created the universe....

No. There's a hell of a lot of grey area between 'I fully accept the big bang theory as 100% correct' and 'the big bang theory and Creationism are equally scientifically valid'.
No shulz I said no one can prove or disprove either theory...and hold as much weight as each other depending on your beliefs...now if I was arguing with a pro religious person and argued how can you believe in a god that cant be proven and he reacted like you I would tell him to please stop forcing your religous beliefs down my throat.

I also said its an argument that can be niether won or lost as its just opinions

yeah I am backing out of this now

Just hit a roo on the freeway at 110kmh. Cars ******. How ******* hard is it for them to realise they probably shouldn't jump in front of that loud bright thing that's coming towards them. ****!

I trust you're OK?

Harry Potter will probably survive the next 2000 years ... wow ...

There are 2 rules of social etiquette:
1). Don't talk about politics.
2). Don't talk about religion.

I only caught a few bits of this thread and is evidence that the rules of social etiquette should be adhered to.

I had a dream that I met Gibby Haynes and the rest of the Butthole Surfers last night. I went to a gig with them and we hung out afterwards.

If anyone was wondering they seem like really nice guys.

Right, I will be in Rome on the 21st. It will be about midnight when the first bowl in the First Test is bowled. I want to watch it at a pub.

Anyone who has been there know of any places I can check out?
