The thing is, the AFL gave them the option. Have the COLA terminated immediately, or have it phased out over 2 years.

The Swans chose to phase it out. Why should they be allowed to bring in other players if they need to trim down their salary cap? I agree with the AFL's decision to ban them from bringing in new players. You can't have money phased out, and also use it to bring in new players.

The Swans can STILL trade, they just can't trade players in. They can offload for picks.
