Players will hopefully stay on now. I know many said they wanted too before the good news but who knows what would have happened if a nice offer came along. I can see Mitro ripping the the lower tier apart.

Could be like Carroll and go from a raw player to a real powerhouse.

The fact Rafa has the final say on who comes and goes is the most pleasing!

Sels done and dusted!

Dwight Gayle has been spotted at Newcastle airport - looks like he'll be coming in soon. Matt Ritchie from Bournemouth being linked too...if we can get him and keep Toonsend, we'd have a fantastic pair of wingers with eyes for the spectacular!

Very refreshing to see Rafa means business though - would be great to have all our signings in before our first friendlies so the players can gel together.

Next in, Dwight Gayle! Hooefully he can fire us to promotion! That's our new home kit by the way lads. I don't mind it to be honest. Don't like the Wonga per usual but liking that gold trim.

Jumper looks really good but why would you splatter w***er across the front??
A fortunate change in the Foxtel scheduling that we'll be watching plus the fact there's decent brain at the helm.
Hope springs eternal.
Rafa's decision to stay is a potential watershed and his professionalism and knowledge of how things need to structure up should knock the heads of the salaried morons together.

So Toonsend is gone...to Palace of all places with Pardew...

Normally I'd be a bit sad but he did try his best to keep us up and if he wants to be in the England picture, it makes sense.

That being said...our 3rd signing, Matt Ritchie is a more than adequate replacement!

Looks like Rafa is wasting no time and now looking at defenders to add to the Rafalution!

Caulker seems to be the one the fans want most given he's a good age, has PL experience and is English. Would be a cracking addition to get given Lascelles and Mbemba (and Dummett, Haidara and Mbabu) are all young.

With Colo (once a defender is brought in) and Taylor leaving, we'll probably need some experience and probably need 2 CBs to come in.

What's interesting is besides Townsend, we haven't really sold anyone else yet. I assume Rafa will hope he can convince a few to stay but if not, we've still got the likes of Sissoko, Gini, Janmaat, Cisse, Tiote etc on the books who would all probably be a class above in the Championship if they hung around/weren't sold.

Got a bit bored at work and in essence, we could see a team like this potentially playing elsewhere next season...

Krul (hasn't made any noises to leave but could be surplus to requirements with 3 other keepers in the first team.

Janmaat - good riddance.
Colo - Back to Argentina ya clown!
Saylor - off to join the Navy I heard?
Haidara - Mbabu and Dummett already, maybe can sell him?

Toonsend - Off to party at Palace with Pardew.
Sissoko - grub.
Tiote - Clear the wages off.
Thauvin - Lots of rumours he wants out.

Gini - think Rafa wants to keep him...but he had made noises about leaving.

Cisse - time to go learn how to stay onside my friend.

The sad thing is other than Toonsend, Krul and maybe Gini at a stretch, I doubt anyone would miss the others. :$

Rafa has just done what everyone said needed to be done to avoid relegation;strengthen the spine.
2 decent sounding centre backs organised, strike force given and edge. He's organising the percentages in our favour.
The age of the two new centre backs reminds me of a Ross Lyon phrase 'looking after the present and the future'.:thumbsu:
EDIT:Richie looks as though he's an upgrade on Toonsend, just a tad more turbo.
Technique is sensational.

It's not just his signings...he's now mentoring and coaching our academy staff as well! This man is on track to become a club legend on par with King Kev and Sir Bobby!

On the subject of transfers - seems Atletico Madrid (the Champions League runner's up) defender Jesus Gamez could be the next in the door - a right back who can also play LB and CB. Former captain of Malaga too.

That might stamp Janmaat's papers!

Arbeloa (Real Madrid) could be another incoming name to help out the defence.

A CB called Grant Hanley who is captain of Blackburn is also being linked.

Fair to say Rafa seems to want to add experience and leadership down back. Flavour of the week!

Agreed.
He's certainly renewed my interest in the club.

I think I read season memberships were booming - we could feasibly have 52k crowds...in the second tier! Let that one sink in a bit!

Looks like you are going to pick up Isaac Hayden from us as well.

Has played under-16, 17, 18, 19 and 20 level for England, would have played the last Under 21 game too if he wasnt injured. Has also captained Arsenal at every level except first team.

Yeah lots of speculation he'll be the next one in. Sounds like a ripper lad. Young, English and with leadership qualities to boot. What more could we ask for haha. The Rafalution is in full swing!

Cisse off to China for the money and dumplings!

More wages off the wage bill. I know he was frustrating but will miss him. His first 6 months were insane before he got Pardewed...

Mitro to fill the number 9 would be my hope!

This one went under the radar with the Jesus signing but these 2 lads joined our U21 side. One is "non-League Riyad Mahrez" and the other is a 6ft 3in CB from Celtic. I'll let you guess which is which.

Great to see some young talent coming in too though!
