I've also had a crack at doing my own subdivisions.

Detail ain't my thing but I have a go.

For instance, here's a little subdivision of mine in the letter D.

What was the name of the game in the 90s/2000s that allowed you to build a city? I keep thinking Sim City but I'm sure it wasn't that.

There were multiple Sim Cities though
Sim City was pretty simple
Sim City 2000 was more complex with all the water pipes underground
Sim City 3000 was my favourite as the graphics got a touch up and they simplified the water and power connections.

Sim Farm was real old (3.5" floppy old) but I loved as well.

Civilisation 2 and 3 were pretty popular, but weren't city building per se.
I'm sure there were other cuit builders out there, but I can't think of them.

True story about Sim Tower. They bought an actual, as in real and industry, elevator simulator amd tried to wrap a game around it. I liked the game. But not programming those elevators. My poor Sims took all night to get home from work!

This is sensational!

Isn't it just.

One of his videos popped up for me on TikTok and I had to search more.

His talent is immense.

He's spent 120+ hours doing this and has even created his own city and suburbs.

His cartographical influence is the US of A (he's American) and his drawings reflect that layout.

He's on Instagram at Aydendrawings.

Edit: I neglected to mention he's doing an architecture course at uni.

I followed the IG account now and checking out the wider city scope. This is almost exactly like what I do, except with actual skills, education, and ambition haha

He even lines up letter size pages on the floor for a happy snap. I did the same (with a crappier camera and uglier maps)

It's as if we're being treated to a chopper ride.

Are those subdivisions separated by a mountain range?

That's meant to be an ocean inlet or a river mouth.
