I wonder how much sentimentality plays into people wanting Tex to be in the side. Walkers first half of the season bar a couple of games were average. Riewoldt had a period of sustained form and consistency longer than anything Tex has served up. Yes, Walker finished the season stronger, and compared to Riewoldt's last month, was superior, but that doesn't discount the fact that Riewoldt was far superior to Walker over the first 15 or so rounds.

Riewoldt kicked 5 contributed to 2 less goals than Walker (Goals and Goal Assists), but spent 25% (remember reading somewhere) more time up the ground than Walker.

Walker was hardly robbed, and if Jack hadn't been as versatile as he was this year might have gotten in, but I think Jack had a better year.

Well done guys.

Rance - Obvious choice

Jack - Not obvious. A very well rounded attacking force now. Nice to see team play getting rewarded (Got ripped off a couple of times)

Lids - Obvious, but limited games. So surprised to see him get the nod. Good to see them reward quality. (Got ripped off a couple of times)

I can imagine it right now, KB banging on and on and on about Lids and Jack getting in, the rest of the guys would get to the point of "Look Kevin will you shutup if we put them both in? Yes ok fine done lets move on, now how can we sneak Rioli in" :D

Answered my own question.

The last time we had 3 All Australian players was in 1980, the players being Jim Jess, Mark Lee and Geoff Raines.
Should have had about ten that year.
Geoff Raines was brilliant all year, won the B&F, zero Brownlow votes, lol

It was said of Tony Locket (by Stan Alves) that if there was two of him and he could kick to himself (CHF to FF), then Plugger would have kicked 200 goals.

The same could be said of Jack. Definitely one of the most skilful players we have. His year was brilliant - well done!

lmao at the bitterness.

"Come on, who would you prefer? That guy streaming down the wing when a final is in the balance and pin pointing a teammate deep in the forward 50 in the dying moments, or a guy who is such a sore loser, he abuses his teammates whenever they don't do the right thing by "Riewoldt" standards?"

"Well, Jack got the nod and Tex is still not an All-Australian. But when we all get together to do it all again next year, Tex will be leading by example and Jack will still be abusing his own teammates on the field, that won't change."

Love how the poster talks up the EF but fails to mention Walker's no show in the Hawk's game (1 goal, 10 touches).

Looking at the "club ladder" in the paper and it's gratifying to see Richmond equal first with three. All those years with one or none, it's a good indication of where the club is at.

Alex Rance is probably my favourite player I think.

Seriously, of all the major signings of the past 12 months or so, his is the one I was most rapt about.

I've always thought he'd be a gun for us since we drafted him, although I thought it'd be him, Thursfield, Moore, and McGuane as the backline for the years to come when Hardwick first started.

I still believe that both Moore and Thursfield would have been a very good players for us barring their injury curses, and then Thursfield deciding to retire at 25 years old (ironically, the same age that Rancey is now, and who contemplated the same thing).

Rance has done a hell of alot more than Thursfield had done by 25, but I think if Thursty kept on going (he'd be about 28/29 now), he'd be the guy in Chaplin's role at the moment, and he'd be much better at it than what Chaplin currently is.

In-fact, Thursfield retiring is probably what prompted the thought process to try and recruit somebody like Chaplin.

ANYWAY I digress... well done Rancey, Lids, and Jack, you all deserve it. And of the 4 clubs that had 3 players in the AA team, two of them are probably likely to be playing in the GF this year, and the other two are us, and the Dogs, who will be a contender in the next few years.

Not really important, but Thursfield became a playing captain coach for Leongatha (small town in south gippsland, VIC) retired last year I think.

Jack's been excellent this year but I would have given it to Tex.
Piss of to main/Adelaide board to get your praise mate. Did you really need to post your uninformed opinion here? Hardly in the spirit of the thread.

I'm not sure but it seems the captain was chosen by us commoners, via a poll on twitter. (not me don't have it) Bob Murphy seems like a great bloke and is probably a great captain, but he is solely chosen because of the feel good factor due to his clubs rapid rise this season. Good on him. Should have made Jack the capitano though, imagine how wild the main board would be. Would be great times on big footy.:)

Also had to roll my eyes saying Tex deserved it more for what Adelaide went through this season with the Walsh tragedy. Fair point maybe but what about what Jack had to deal with with losing his cousin Maddie?

Yeah what's worse? The loss of a relative you've grown up with or a mentor you've known for a few months? (Not playing down the Walsh tragedy)

Well done, lads.

I'm a Richmond fan but Jack over Tex???
When its there to be won I'll take Tex every day of the week over Jack.

Jack first half of the year was really strong.
Tex played some great footy on the run home which tends to stick in the mind more than early form.

Flip of the coin for me
