And on a million dollars less...Slightly better than Boyd.
Bulldogs fans are getting really worked up about the rest of the football world talking about Tom Boyd. If you don't like the criticism, I suggest you stick to your own board.
The truth is, the guy cost you equal to two high first round picks, when you could have ended up with Peter Wright as well as a Caleb Marchbank or Jake Lever.
The money he is on no doubt will have an impact on who you can bring into your club in the future.
No doubt he will improve as his career goes on, but we are yet to see any signs that he will become an elite forward of the competition.
And on a million dollars less...
Your paying half of Griffens wage.
I dont see that as standing up for yourself.

Fair enough thenAnother one!
There have been a couple of million posts on how doing that was the best short term (read only way at the time) to get up to the minimum salary cap of 92.5%.
Sick of this sort of comment. Read up on the facts!

But still LOL at Boyds wage.
You're having a bit of a 'mare in this thread, might be time for a break.
Sure am, TD.
Stupidity and ignorance always get me going.
Loving the melt downs from you GetDimmaBack
Yes, the fact that you could have had Wright and Lever is all hindsight, but it's still fact.
As for his salary being structured to cope with this in the future. Yes, every club does this with big contracts, pay more early or late to free up some money in other years. You will still be paying on average $1 million a year for a guy that looks unlikely to get to the elite level, it WILL have an affect on who you can bring into your club, whether you like it or not.
In fact just 9 months ago Jake Carlisle refused to meet with your club because you could not get near the offer that Carlton and St Kilda had on the table.
Beveridge was very keen on Carlisle I think you'll find, he was very frustrated that Jale wouldn't even meet with the club. A few google searches will show you this.Just simply not true about not having enough money for Carlisle. Bev wasn't a fan of him. Also considering we are offering a bigger contract to Hurley than what Carlisle received from St Kilda it doesn't really fit your narrative.

In that case, how has his performances been this year?

He had major personal issues. We were off him all year then, as a matter of process, we showed an interest in meeting him, just to make sure that decision was right. he wasn't interested.Carlisle is a rabid Dogs fan, I'd be very surprised if he wasn't prepared to meet the club if they wanted him to.
Probably better than Boyd still. In that case, how has his performances been this year?
Tom Mitchell has had a great year... also has scope for significant improvement. Poor example.Boyd is clearly not worth the money he is getting in 2016. Neither is Sam Reid, Tom Mitchell, Travis Cloke, Daisy Thomas, Nick Dal Santo and numerous others. Of all this list of overpaid footballers relative to their on-field output, only one of them is 20yo and has obvious scope for significant improvement. If this improvement doesn't come by the time he is 23yo (or at the very least trending in the right direction), I'll be the first to admit it has been a bust.
Overrated season - had some very good games but also some nondescript games. Not the season of player around the $700k a season mark. Is there much scope for improvement in him, seeing as he has been in the system for a number of years now, is a one-paced mid with questionable disposal and decision-making skills, and still sits behind the likes of Kennedy, Hanneberry and Jack as key mids for the Swans? Would he be able to carry his team's midfield (together with Hanneberry) when Kennedy and Jack finish up? Perhaps, but there's a lower ceiling of improvement than there is for Boyd - the challenge for Boyd is to actually improve which is very much yet to be determined, but there's no denying he has the capacity to improve and do so significantly due to his age and body size/position.Tom Mitchell has had a great year... also has scope for significant improvement.
