They better persist with him, more potential talent than ebert, masten, stevens, priddis etc ... question is wether the coaches have faith on him reaching his potential, i personally like to think he will :thumbsu:

We have somewhat of a problem at the moment.

Because of our good form so far in 2011, there have been fewer chances for players to break into the side.

The fact is ALOT of the kids playing WAFL at the moment had a number of opportunities to cement a spot in our best 22 last year, and simply couldn't.

12 months later with a much healthier list, virtually our best 22 is out on the park, thus removing the chance for fringe and younger players to get a crack in the blue and gold.

Best way for them to hit the issue on the head, is always be ready for when your next chance may come, and when it does be completely on top of your game.

^ Indeed. The sad thing is that if he breaks into the Eagles side, he's still likely to play this role given we are deeply stocked with inside mids, with he, Masten and Stevens all trying to break in playing the same role.

If he played he should play in the same role that a Priddis/Masten would, but won't.

Swift's a real midfielder not one of these shit labels for limited players, he can and will play his own game when selected. Still think he'll be a starting rover in year or two, more naturally dynamic than any other young mid on our list and you can see he's working hard.

We should at least wait it out to see if another solid pre-season (possibly adding bulk etc.) will improve things, or as others said if he isn't feeling 100%. Don't think he's going anywhere.

I'm happy with him working hard outside out of the senior side right now, his form doesn't really warrant selection atm but he's notte a disappointing WAFL player either. He showed good signs vs Subi I thought.

I watched the Tigers on the tele yesterday and thought Swift played well. As EH previously mentioned, Swift had been getting a lot of HB receives in recent weeks, but I thought he was very good at winning the contested footy yesterday. He missed a couple of easy targets with 40m kicks, but overall his disposal was good. His ability to set up play with HB's from the contest was very good also. I think there was plenty to be encouraged by.

For the record, his stats were:

K-HB-M-T
15-11-6-1

Only one tackle is surprising. He seemed to be in amongst it, particularly in the second half.
